Notable things said to me that haven't been mentioned yet:

As a guy in silver Range Rover is behind me, he honks constantly. He pulls to the side of me (it's a two lane way) and rolls down his window, then says "If you get in front of me one more time I am going to hit you, this is my lane, stay out." He sped off to a stop sign, then sped to another, and another. I ended up beside him again, but he just looked at me. That was odd.

Just this last friday I had another odd encounter. Residual snow piles are slowly melting away in Philly. I was riding home from work through fishtown and noticed a bunch of adolescents staring at me, I started to move quicker then darted away when I noticed one was picking up snow to throw at me (more like ice at this point). As I fled, they kept yelling "Vagina Vagina Vagina" at least fifteen times. Strange.

I can't remember anything really dumb that hasn't already been mentioned. I've heard:

Wanna race, Lance, get on the sidewalk, Don't ride like an a***hole, or you will get killed."

Etc. I just forget most of them and keep on ridiing

apparently riding a bicycle will make you gay according to some cagers that I have encountered... Other than that I have been called an a$$hole. Once had some guy honk the horn really hard and long at me, I caught up to him at the light and rolled up to his window to say hello. He pretended he I was not there at all...

Sure, why else would you wear tights and a helmet to engage in a dangerous sport? Just look at football players; also obvious pansies, with their skin-tight pants and helmets.

I haven't commuted to the business district by bike yet...but as a pedestrian I've heard the bicyclists yell the following:

While attempting to navigate through a crowd of pedestrians, a guy on a single speed yells: "I have no brakes!"

In another incident, I heard a bicyclist yell out "Hey!," run a red light, ram a pedestrian and then whilst running away "I told you I wasn't going to stop!"

I had a lot of fun as a kid, but never at someone else's expense. That's called being a delinquent.

Tell yourself whatever you want. It's part of any kid's normal childhood. What kind of kid never gets in trouble?

I for one have never understood the desire for entertainment at someone else's expense. No one likes to be on the receiving end, yet people continue to do it to each other.

When i got home, my 9 year old was almost in tears because he was just trying to say hello daddy and wasn't sure why I got upset.
I was riding home from work one day and heard the revving of an engine and the horn being laid on. My left hand went up and I was just about to extend the middle finger when I realized it was my wife having a go at me. The kids were in the back waving and yelling Hi Daddy!

So lucky not to have let that bird fly.

Yeah, it was a good thing you didn't flip them off... but your wife must know of the troubles people cause commuters on bikes, so I'm sure she would understand. It's a cut throat world!

The one smart enough to at least not get caught. I guess my childhood was a little better than yours.

You have to get caught to learn how to not get caught. It's science.

I agree for the most part, but there are times that others deserve it.

In High School, the football coaches had a habit of taking cookies and other goodies. Someone left out a batch of exlax chip cookies one day.

College, same thing with a classmate eating everyone's candy bars. So exlax plugged Mars bar and we all got to watch him grab it and eat it in front of us.

That's classic, I'm stealing it.

Like most every cyclist I've heard about everything. Get sidewalk remarks fairly often, with not a sidewalk in sight.

The best I've had was last summer. Mom walking with her young daughter (5-ish), who was on what was probably her 1st "real" bike (2 wheeler with training wheels, all decked out with tassles, license plate, etc.). As I passed by, daughter exitedly hollers "look mom, he's riding bikes too!". Cute as could be, made my day.

Tell yourself whatever you want. It's a sad part of humanity that I hope we grow out of some day.

Yeah but somewhere along the way you DID learn there were consequences of being caught... so the lesson was still learned.
