Rear Racks....
#27
Question? What is the weight capacity on those? My son and I keep the dairy cows of America in business...in addition to all the rest of the groceries, we are always getting a couple of gallons of milk every other day and need to find a good set of panniers that can handle the weight.
Thanks

Weight capacity is dependent on your rack. That axiom rack in my photo has a supposed capacity of 75 kilos! I highly highly doubt that it could take that much, and if it could would you want that much weight on just the rear end? Typically rear racks have a weight capacity of 50lbs. Higher end racks, such as bruce gordon racks, could probably take more.

I just bought (off fleabay, so we'll see) a pair of the Wald 582 Rear Folding Baskets for my groceries/commuting. My rack pack with foldout panniers (the delta day bag) just wasn't cutting it and I have lots of nice backpacks I can throw in the foldout baskes, use a bungee net to hold in place and take out and work and just fold up the basket. Should work for groceries as well if all goes as hoped. I'd thought about going with some nice waterproof ortliebs but this seemed more practical and cheaper in the short term. Whether it'll work and hold up over time keeping the long term costs down, we'll have to see.

It's definitely high on my wish list.
