Not sure what the cult is, but I was driving in my car on rainy night and I saw a person covered in a black rain poncho? or something, and he or she was putting a small box (casket?) on the guard rail post on the 76 in Ohio near Wadsworth. They must have walked there because I didn't notice any cars on side of the highway before or after where they were at. Then on another dark rainy night I saw a person with a long black poncho on a very busy highway 31 near Peru Indiana standing right on the white line, which was really weird because I had swerve around the idiot suddenly because of what they were wearing you couldn't see them till you almost hit them! I first I thought I was seeing things, which I never do, until the car behind me swerved also. Almost like the person was either daring us to hit them, or hoping to cause an accident, or trying to make people think they saw a ghost. Again no cars parked in the area. If I get a chance and ever see this again I'm going to stop the car quickly if I can do so safely, And run like crazy toward them to see who these people are.

I always end up finding bags with pornographic DVD's with only the cases left. There were also a few rusty wheelchairs in this lake, which kind of creeped me out.

This mornings update: A Costco/Kirkland brand 16 oz bottle filled with a yellow liquid with a foamy head. If its still there on my commute home its probably not beer.

Sounds like it was fresh enough to keep you warm if you were to slip it into your jersey pocket.

Hey I live in kokomo Indiana. its pretty cool to hear about someone talking about here even if that person is an idiot. Whatever its not my home town. I don't see very many on bike around here and the one person I did see told me he had got to to many duis and that's the only reason he rides. Not me tho I ride cuz I like it. If you ever ride in kokomo be careful lots of people will be ********. As far as the highway thing I'm surprised you didn't see me I cross that highway at least 10.times a week.

I found a bunch of dental picks, the good ones like dentist actually use, on the road. I ran over a few and was worried about getting a flat.

what i found: a queen sized matress, hats, gloves, soles of a pair of shoes, socks, scarf, helmet, a lost dog, a mountain bike sitting in a field waiting.

I have a near complete channel-lock pliers set, (3 differnt needlenosed,a bull nosed, side cutters, etc.) from over the years collecting.

Yesterday I found milk crate full of orange juice pints. Looks like the milk truck guy forgot to close the hatch.

OK, that must be why I carry straps around with me. I would definitely put that on my rack.

Last week, me and a friend found one of these, with a sign next to it saying "free" - We were a mile from my house, so we took turns carrying it.
Its in good shape, but was clearly put together poorly. Everything needs adjustment, the chain was tangled, the rear wheel was off, the back brakes cable was not connected to the handle, and the chain has a bit of rust I need to clean. I have it in the basement while I slowly work on it, more for fun than anything else. Cheap bike, low quality, but a free beater bike isn't a bad deal!

Sometimes last week I saw a bra on the road while riding to work.

No, I didn't pick it up...

Think it might have fallen off someone's laundry basket :P

I was out by LAX when I saw the roadkill 'coon. On Coyote Creek Trail when I saw the coyote in the creek.

Mostly it's GU packets and old tubes. Shopping carts in the river beds. Homeless encampments under the freeways.

A few weeks ago I came across a bob cat trotting up the trail. He ducked off about 100 feet in front of me. I see turkeys, geese and coyote's and deer quite often.

I see lots of wildlife. Coyotes, foxes, bobcats, skunks, armadillos, possums, raccoons, etc. I've even seen an owl just chillin on a park bench.

The strangest thing I saw was a very upset John dropping off a tranny hooker. (S)he tried flagging me down after he drove off, but I just kept going.

The other week as I was headed out to the VA I saw a vulture on the side of the road eating carrion. I literally said to myself "Holy f***ing s**t." As other then on nature shows on TV I've never actually saw a vulture out in the wild actually eating carrion.

And just this past week I found some gals purse/clutch and returned it. Sadly, she wasn't home at the time so I just left it in her mailbox.

I too usually see a LOT of bras, women's tops, socks, shoes etc.

The strangest looking thing I have come across was a frozen glove laying fingers up like some poor guy sunk into the roadside. The fingers were even splayed out an alarming, help me, fashion. The best finds have been bungie cords(can't have too many of those),an awesome 12" Snap on adjustable wrench and money.

Assorted tools, the best being a 1/2" drive torque wrench, lots of pliers, vise-grips, occassional wrench.
Unopened beer or liquor, often along rural roads where it was tossed out the window at night by an underage person when they noticed they were being followed by the cops.
Assorted clothing, found a Subway restaurant employees cap yesterday. The only other item of clothing I ever bothered to pick up was a nice windbreaker that was lying along the highway clean and dry.
Perhaps the most interesting was a youth sized Diamondback MTB in excellent condition. It was obviously dumped/abandoned so I contacted the local PD and took it in. It wasn't claimed within 60 days and was donated to a local charity.

I was planning to go to the fabric store for some 1/2" webbing for a new lanyard for my transit pass, when a passing electrician's truck lost a several-hundred-foot spool of 1/2" webbing used for pulling wiring through plastic conduits. Lifetime supply of lanyards, tie-downs, bag straps, etc.
