If you want to meet ladies while cycling get a 3 speed roadster with a basket and a cute dog.

Now that's some sage advice! Sixty Fiver is wise...
She thought she would slow me down. I told her that I was just waiting for someone who I could take long leisurely rides with and showed her something that made her heart melt... http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...llefarone1.jpg I still like to ride fast and long but the best times on a bike are spent with a certain beautiful lady and the pace is never so fast that we can't share our thoughts, hold hands, or steal a kiss or two at a stop. Can't ride the old roadsters anymore because of my back not liking the position but it was never about the bike but who you wanted to spend your life riding with. We now have a tandem so we can ride together and she is looking forward to going a little faster and farther and even wants to go cyclo-camping feeling that working together she could see herself riding 100 miles in a day which is not hard on a tandem. And I really am a pretty utilitarian cyclist and do have a basket and a cute little dog. http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikepics/dogbike1.jpg :) |

Gahh, I tried about three different ways of fixing it, then decided I should delete it while I figured it out, but you beat me to it, thanks.
or just replace the < with [ from what I type below: <IMG]http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5264/5620067364_31c6a8d295.jpg</IMG] <IMG]http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5106/5620067406_bf94938fa9.jpg</IMG] |

My wife won't be caught dead on anything she deems is an "old lady" bike. Even when I take out my Superbe for a nice toodle, she's still all decked out in spandex and on one of her road bikes.
But my granddaughter doesn't share her hangups...she likes her bike with the wicker basket on the bars. :) It is funny at times I will admit. There's this fellow who always accuses me of riding a boy bike (newer Schwinn Letour) and trying to convince me to get a cruiser so that I will sell him my Schwinn. |

:) But, oh, how I do wish I still had that Raleigh- I loved that bike and did thousands of miles all over Southern New England on it. I do have my father-in-laws even more vintage Raleigh, however. It's a rod-braked "British Bobbies" 28" from the late 50's. It's still in renovation stage- he'd painted it white with house paint! But one day I'll have it back to something resembling it's original condition. |

I think there's a general reluctance on the part of women to post their pics online for a whole host of reasons.
College age women have less disposable income than old men and probably don't want to spend what little they have on roadie stuff. ;) There are lots of young women riding around here and they're serious cyclists but they aren't the spandex wearing type that's going to spend $2k on a road bike and accessories. They'll spend $200 on a SS/fixed gear instead and ride in "regular" clothes depending on how you define that. If you want to see some like-minded, spandex clad young women on road bikes, find some triathlon training club ride or better yet, get into racing. It's still going to be mostly men though. |
I commute using my Panasonic to work. Heres the famous Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables
