Windiest commute evuh!

The forecasters called for a windy day, and for once they didn't exaggerate. I battled a 15-20 mph headwind riding to work in the morning, but that was nothing compared to the afternoon. Winds were gusting up to the mid-40s, and some of those gusts felt like they hit me. My bike was actually pushed sideways several times, and riding into headwinds was like hitting a steep uphill. Fortunately the winds were mostly crosswinds and tailwinds on my afternoon commute, and I made great time.

I'm sure my commute was nothing compared to what some of you Midwesterners face on a regular basis, but it was the windiest day I've had in 4 years of bike commuting.

It gets rough out there sometimes. Glad you made it him safely!

One of my epic windy rides was gusts 50+ and there was a permanent haze from all the dust being picked up. If that wasn't bad enough, I had to keep my eyes open for tumbleweeds that went airborne. A few close calls, but I finally made it home. Got an interesting experience to say the least.

Anything less than Hurricane winds is still just a slight breeze nowadays

What I used to think were horrible winds are now just part of the ride, but I've got to agree with you about yesterday. One block of downtown funnels the wind such that I stopped in the road and put a foot down (a first while commuting!) to keep from being blown into the other lane. Funny, though, the next three blocks (including cross streets) were calm.

07 december storm , gusts to 100 MPH, no I didn't go out much ,
and so missed trees falling on me.

We had many 'the power is off so let's eat up the contents of the freezer'
get togethers, that week.

And the local Tavern went to the Fish Processor to get Ice for the Beer.

tarwheel, we were about the same here yesterday! I was actually pleasantly surprised by the fact that although I was being blown around a bit and the gusts got nasty, I held up and it was even a little fun. However, I am glad that the wind looks like it has changed direction and slowed down for the rest of the week.

Oh how I miss Temple. We got down to 100 here in the RGV so I know you guys had to be crankin' 105+. That north wind sucked, so I'd like to sell it back to you if you're buying
