Just curious, were you running your lights at the time? was it day or night?

Hoping for the best in that the wounds are not too bad, and if they are, may they heal quickly.

Day, dry, clear... W/riding d/hill, passing all the stuck traffic when the driver decided to do a Taco Bell run. I saw him signal, then he just turned. I had no time to stop.

I know exactly where that's at. My friend lives near there. I used to live in the Murray hill area in Beaverton when I first moved to Oregon. Hopefully your ok. That area can be tough at times on a bike.

off subject but that Taco Hell has the worst drive thru I have ever been through(when I drove).

Hope your arm is not broken and your wounds heal quickly. I've had a bunch of close calls on right and left hooks, there's little one can do if the timing's against you.

Glad to hear that you weren't hurt worse, altho a broken arm is nothing to sneeze at.

Sorry to hear of that. I figured it must have been daytime when you got hit with all the reflective parts on you and your bike.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you recover quickly. Too many drivers just don't pay attention to you if you're only on two wheels the way they would if you were on four. :(

So who's paying the bills? Since you were on a bike lane, seems like the driver is at fault.

I always hate passing on the right with turnoffs or driveways.

I think that in some ways bike lanes make you more invisible. The driver doesn't have to think of you.

Riding too far to the right, if there's a bike lane or not, has the same effect. Bike lanes, from my experience, seems to make motorists pass closer with more confidence.

I have a mental block, I don't think of it as 'passing' when you're going the speed-of-traffic in your lane. Of course when the next lane is blocked I'm happier when it's bumper-to-bumper so less room for long-wheelbase to dart out in front of me...

Anyway, glad you survived, any landing you can walk away from is a good one...

Ouch, sorry to hear that. Kind of scary as I'm about to start commuting myself and the drivers here are notoriously bad.

Minimum bodily injury coverage for auto insurance in Oregon is $50K so make sure you get what's owed to ya for the pain...

The OP got "hooked" by a quick right turning motorist in a bumper to bumper situation.
