Surly cross check frame

I am in the process of building up a new cross check frame and would like a disc front fork. I have a 1x1 fork, same rake but the axle to crown height is 13 mm more. Would this work?

Assuming that you can fit a 700c wheel in the 1x1 fork (which I imagine you can), it should work. It will change the geometry of the bike a bit. Look here for more details:

Also, Google reveals this:



The owner says, "It made the bike handle funny and introduced a ton of toe overlap." It's not clear whether he means the fork or the big tires.

I should also mention that I put a Civia Bryant fork (395mm axle to crown) on my Kona Jake and have been very happy with it.
