FYI Novara Headwinds pants
Finally REI has them back in stock. Don't know long they will have them but I ordered another pair yesterday. These are almost perfect for cooler weather and light rain and fog. The front is windproof and I can attest I have worn them at temps down to 30 degrees F and was plenty warm.

REI seems to run out of these every year and I"m always fearful they won't have them in stock or change them. I have three pair now and I'm really thinking I should have another pair.
