Mudguards for Trek7500?

Hi,

Has anyone been able to find mudguards that would work with this line of Trek bikes? I have a 7500 and 7300FX and the configuration of the rear wheel and that little metal part (about 3-4 inches) that sits perpendicular to it (behind the pedals) makes fitting a plastic mudguard impossible. Anyone have good experience with any mudguards on these bikes?

Thanks, Vic

Bikes: Trek 7100, Windsor Fens

I have a Delta rack with the solid metal piece in the center on my 7100. Not 100%, but better than nothing I suppose.

Hi,

My roomie's got a 7500FX, and it looks as though the SKS P45 road fenders I've got mounted on my Raleigh C30 (also a hybrid) will fit it fine. He's got a Trek Interchange rack on the bike, and while the forward mount of the rack is poor, the rack itself has a solid shelf which deflects a surprising amount of the road spray from his rear wheel.

My fenders are REI item# 684330 in their online catalog.

Best of luck,
JAB

Quick followup: my roomie just installed full fenders on his '04 Trek 7500FX. He used the "Zefal Hybrid Full Fender Set" from Nashbar (catalog entry). In order to get them to fit nicely, he ended up having to shorten the wires which support the front fender by 1/2", and he had to raise his rear rack just a bit.

He'll be charging puddles with impunity in no time.
