Bikes: '06 Surly Pugsley, '14 Surly Straggler, '88 Kuwahara Xtracycle, '10 Motobecane Outcast 29er, '?? Surly Cross Check (wife's), '00 Trek 4500 (wife's), '12 Windsor Oxford 3-speed (dogs')

Schwalbe Marathons come in 26 x 1 3/8, and have reflective sidewalls. Here's a Google shopping search them.

Michelin City Tire is 26x1.4 (about the same as 1 3/8) with reflective sidewalls. You can find it at most larger bike shops and internet retailers.

Different Animal. You have to be careful on the fractional vs. decimal denotation. The 26 x 1 3/8 is going to be a 590mm diameter tire, the 26 x 1.4 will be a 559mm diameter tire. One will not work in lieu of the other.

Michelin does make at least one 590 tire (World Tour), not sure if they make others. The link provided above lists some 2010 (or earlier) Marathon tires for $22 and some change. Great deal for 22 bucks.

Michelin World Tour also has a reflective sidewall, if you're looking for a cheaper option:

As stated above, don't confuse decimal sized like 26x1.4 with 26x3/8, they are NOT the same.

The Schwalbe Marathons are also as close to flat proof as you can get, and they wear like iron. Great tires for commuting.

On the other hand, they're pretty heavy and the ride quality is not so great. So it's a compromise.

I guess it depends on what one is comparing them to. Compared to a sport/racing tire, that's probably a fair statement. In the grand scheme of things, it's actually a very nice rolling tire and about average weight. In this particular case, there aren't a lot of options in a 26 x 1 3/8 (37-590) tire, it's not a particlarly common size. There is the Marathon Plus, which is nearly bulletproof but a bit heavier and a bit more rolling resistance. We also make the Delta Cruiser which is a more budget oriented tire but still really nice.

Yeah, I don't think it's a terrible tire or anything. I found it to have a bit of a hard road feel, but other people love it. Everyone has an opinion!

Schwalbe Delta Cruisers... the reflective model costs a little more but it is less then the Marathon and offers a much nicer ride.
