More Bikes, Healthier cities: An actual study
- Study was done in the Midwest.
- Says the Twin Cities could save $57 million and 300 lives by choosing to ride a bike for 1/2 of all trips under 2.5 miles.
- Only included days with nice weather
Full text of story here though I saw another version of it in an email.
Study was done at the University of Wisconsin. Here's an article from NPR.

If the Twin Cities chose to use bikes, exclusively, for trips over 2.5 miles, and if that had the secondary effect that some of the people who did that, also started using bikes for longer trips (hey, this is fun, I wonder if I can make it to ...?), how would that affect the risk from increased exposure to air pollution? How much air pollution would that reduce?
