Anyone seen this 5-LED flashlight?
In a Home Depot flyer I received a few days ago their was a Husky brand 5-LED flashlight that I swear looked exactly like a Cateye EL-300 in front, and it was only $9.95. I stopped by a HD store yesterday, but they were out. Well, let's put it this way, even after two different people checked the computer no one actually knew where they would be if they did have them so who knows. They could tell me that the computer said they should have 4, which the second guy said meant that they definitely wouldn't have any. I really wanted to see one in person and probably would have bought one just to try it at that point. I don't use my EL-300 as a bike light very often anymore, but it makes a pretty good flashlight.
Has anyone seen one, by chance?

Yes, I purchased one this past weekend (01-23-05) at Home Depot in Johnson City, New York for $9.97 + tax. I like its many features:
choice of 3 white LED, 5 white LED, 3 red LED, or 3 blinking red LED or OFF with the 5 position switch. It sits nicely flat on a table in either prone or standing such that the red LEDs (ON or flashing) may be used as an attention getter. The multi selection switch does require you to go through all the settings to get to off though, and there is no momentary ON setting. Holstering the flashlight requires some imagination. I have used an old walkie-talkie carrier made of leather that could be used on a (utility) belt; I added a velcro secured covering to keep the flashlight (head up) in place. The contour of the light's handle goes nicely with the hip too.
I also like Brinkman's ($8) 1-LED (2-AA batteries) and ($20) 2/4 LED (2-D batteries) flashlights as well - not for cycling mind you, but for daily carry. The cost of this Husky 5-LED flashlight and the fact it uses 4-AA batteries puts it at the front of the class; I just wish it had a momentary switch and an option to do 3/5 white LEDs and either 3 red/3 flashing red LEDS simultaneously.

Jon,
Thanks for the post. Are you familiar with the Cateye EL-300 5-LED headlight. If not you can see it at the cateye.com website. The picture I saw of the Husky light looked very similar in shape to the EL-300. I will have to check again at Home Depot. As you can see from the date of my post I last checked during the pre-holiday season when there was so much extra stuff on special displays all over the store that personnel had no idea where anything was.
Regards,
Raymond

Here's mine. It was not $10, but I like it lots:

A little bungee cord treatment gets the job done.
