trekking bikes vs hybrid bikes

How do bikes like the Specialized Globe, Cannondale Street and the Trek T80 compare to hybrid bikes? Are the differences in geometry, or just that these bikes come with racks/lights/fenders and you have to add them to the hybrids? Does anyone out there that has any of these bikes care to comment on it?

They look like they would be good for city/casual riding, but I'm not sure how they would be for longer rides (40-60 miles) or rides with stiff headwinds. I'm also unsure about tire capacity. Can these things hold a winter tire (Nokian/Innova)?
