No commute yesterday--stayed home with a sick kid. This morning was absolutely perfect cycling weather: 60F, calm, brilliant blue sky. A lovely, lovely day.

Then my mellow got harshed by the self-centered jackhole who parked directly in front of the row of bike lockers, despite the large "NO PARKING" stenciled on the cement there. I was able to get my locker door opened and the bike inside. And I managed to stifle the urge to vandalize his car. Jerk.

This morning was AWEsome. Walked out the door basically into a cloud, it was so foggy. Had a nice slow ride in, laughed at the "Share The Road" sign that the construction workers placed IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FAWKING BIKE LINE to remind cagers to share the road with them. WTF? Rode a couple miles behind another commuter [not drafting, about 1/4 mile back], which was cool to see. Then when I was cooling off in the breezeway at work, another bike commuter stopped to chat. I had no idea there was anyone else commuting here, but apparently, there are two others, they're just way more discrete than I! Very cool.

Oh, and the sun came out in force for the last two miles of my ride, so I got to enjoy the "beautiful day" aspect of the ride, as well as the cool breeze part!

Can't wait till the ride home. This is my first day with no backpack, and panniers are WHERE IT'S AT. My back is a happy back.

Took it easy on the way in. Tried to focus on the view, the trees. Cool out, nice.

I woke up and didn't want to ride my bike. i was out of it, took a shower without thinking (I shower at work after the commute, so this was a bonehead move).

But, I leave my car at work and had no choice. Weather was perfect, got me moving.

Got to the closet (read: car) and realize I left my key at home. My wonderful wife brought me a spare.

It all worked out.

Very nice day today, actually a bit cool this morning. I got an earlier start than usual and saw a lot more bikers on the way in, but I can't really say they were commuting -- maybe just out for fun. The MUP was covered with branches and sticks from last night's storm. I also rode through a lot of mud on a short unpaved trail. Since I bring my bike into my office, I like to keep it clean so no one will complain. Fortunately, the county has still not fixed the sidewalk near my building so I was able to ride through a large relatively "clean" puddle of water to clean my tires. It works for me!

Yesterday was the 3rd nice day this year in Seattle. I'm still kind of a bike n00b, and I normally work at home, but I had to go to a client's office. I felt ready to tackle the 15 miles each way around the north end of the lake, especially in the sun with a pleasant breeze. It was a very pretty ride and I didn't have to stop for CPR even once. Rode my Xtracycle, carrying a notebook computer bag and bag of clothes. Coming home was tough, and I'm sore today, but I'm glad I did it.

'Twas a fine ride in today. I left the jacket at home and rolled on down the road. Feels good, oh yeah...

the ride home was about as nice as the ride in. Great day.

Lovely weather this week--lower 60sF in the AM, upper 70sF in the afternoon.

My morning routine was discombobulated this morning. When I got home yesterday, I was going to do some minor maintenence but flopped out pretty early. Sooo, there I was up at 2:00AM replacing a chain and doing some odd tightenings. Even up so early, I was still going out the front door a few minutes late. Packed up, helmeted, fingerless gloved, and door locked behind me, I headed up the stairs toward the front door. I had the feeling I was forgetting something, and realized I was still wearing house slippers.

Duh.

Nice weather heading down. Then I left the bike down there becuase it looks like rain. AGAIN!!! Grr.

Not the best ride home today. I took a different train home so I'd have a longer ride on the new folding bike. About a mile out from the train station, the bike started feeling wobbly. I pulled over and the rear tire was completely flat. It was fine when I left work.

I had with me a spare 16" tube, tire levers, and a seatpost pump. What I had forgotten is that the bike doesn't have quick-release wheels; it looks like I'll have to start carrying a wrench. I called a cab and tossed the folding bike in the trunk.

My commute today was great. Weather was in the high 70's and a slight eastern breeze. I took the long way back home from work though, and it added two miles on, but it was worth it, I kind of felt accomplished after it. Rode about 12 miles today.

Very hot today, 95+.

It's Juneuary in the PNW.

Today will be first day since back in May when we actually have seasonal temperatures. It has been very hot in NC the entire month of June, with some record-breaking highs in the 100s last week and 90s most other days. Today the high is supposed to top out in the mid-80s -- what it's supposed to be like -- and it feels great. Temps were in the upper 50s during my morning commute, and I wore my arm warmers for the first time in weeks. No more bike commutes after today until next week some time, as we are heading out of town for a family wedding in Georgia. I plan to bring one of my bikes, and hopefully my brother and I can get in some rides around Stone Mountain outside Atlanta as well as the Blue Ridge Mountains near Hiawasee.

Crisp. Mid 50's, sunny. Headwind but it didn't seem to slow me down much. Passed an MTB-rider who was stopped and talking on a cell phone. He waved and I said hi. I eyeballed his bike for damage but didn't see any. Hopefully he wasn't calling for a rescue.

59 degrees on the way in. Sunny. Just a few wispy clouds-kinda like the beginning of "Ferris Buehler's Day Off." No noticable wind.

Glorious ride this morning. Despite staying up late to watch the Celtics destroy the hapless Lakers, I had plenty in the tank and the legs felt good. Something tells me the ride home won't be the same. Comfortable commute in Boston this morning...about 65.

60F and a cear sky, perfect was a good ride too. I even had a driver honk after they passed me and wave through the back window (first time that has happened). I was going down some rough road and couldn't let go to wave back but I nodded so maybe they saw that

Hardly got a sweat going today; such a nice, cool morning. 2 other guys in my lab rode in today ... woohoo!!!

Tarwheel: Maybe you know this already. If you get a chance to ride in Georgia, might I suggest the area around Helen. Great surroundings for tour/road riding, and plenty of MTB access around if you are into it. We used to do 24-hour overnights out there regularly.

Commuted yesterday afternoon (hot but nice) and this morning (cool and nice) for the first time since my accident on Friday afternoon. I'll be driving home this afternoon, but it was really good to get back on the bike again, and on such an extremely pleasant day.

perfect temps for a ride in this morning. I was actually surprised (pleasantly) when I opened the garage to leave - I felt a little chilly - felt great after last week!
