I chickened out again. 2nd day in a row. It wasn't the wind this time, but the cold. Ive got a cold, and it's 32 out. Didn't seem like I was ready for that. I don't have proper cold weather gear, so Im extremely nervous about riding in cold and wind.
It's been a while. Spent a lot of the summer training and racing. My commutes are so dang long and tiresome they became few and far between.
Today was tough. First real, chilly commute (for a southern boy). But, I made it. Going home should be nicer - yet windier.
Oh, and I ordered more lights front and back. Should be here soon. Looking forward to it.

Man it felt cold this morning. Lows were in the upper 30s F, but it felt colder than it did the day before yesterday, when it got down to 35 F. I probably felt colder because I didn't dress as warmly. Wore my knickers today rather than tights over shorts, and the loss of an extra layer on my legs made me feel colder all over.

chilly this morning. -2C (and cooler in the low sections). I almost hit a porcupine!! Thought it was a tumbleweed or something, then it started waddling. Glad I had braked beforehand.

Didn't ride today (or all week, for that matter), but I did notice my rear tire was rubbing against my right brake pad at one point, so I got out my spoke wrench and brought it back to true. That should help a little on my rides. Also been scoping out some of the new 2009 model bikes on-line. I like the look of the new Kona Dew Drop; might be a contender in my quest for a new bike.

Cold around 30F and damp but felt warmer than yesterday, although I dressed a little warmer with full finger gloves and a bandanna to keep my face & neck warm along with what I usually wear.
The weather forecast was predicting snow so I was happy to see just a bit of rain on the roads when I woke up instead.

Need better socks for the winter, something to wear when the temps are too cold for regular socks and too warm for the neoprene socks (yes, I live in NC, but I have almost no body fat; I get cold when the temps get below 85 degrees).

22*F this morning. First day this fall that my feet actually got cold. I guess it's time to put away the ankle-high poly socks and dig out the wool.

Not too shabby. The intersection at the bottom of the first hill was being dug up, so we had to detour out onto a busier road, then deke back onto our usual route. They have some bike symbols painted on the road, but they stop after a block. Weird...
Yesterday, cool (35). Needed hat, gloves, 2 longsleeve shirts and a sweatshirt but still only shorts. I have determined that anything cooer than 35, I will need something on my legs. Not looking forward to that. Today, not so bad (44). Ditched one of the longsleeve shirts. Good news is that I may have a 20 mph tailwind for the ride home tonight!! Other than that, uneventful week thus far.

Taking the day off from riding today. I have not taken a day off for over a week and my legs have been feeling really weak as of late, so I want to give them a day to refresh.

Bit chilly. Sunny though, no rain. I'm finding my backpack is making my back sweat, even with wicking material and all that. Need to get a pannier soon.
Third day commuting in a row.. it feels great to leave the car at home! Sometimes can be difficult packing enough of a lunch though.

Chilly but a great commute. I wish people would keep their dogs in the yard!
I live in Florida, and commute 11 miles roundtrip 5 days a week.
I gotta say it's just starting to cool down , and the ride home is nicer & nicer everyday.
Best commute story this week? On the way home Monday, a girl i used to work with pulled up next to me at a red light & shared her joint with me. The rest of the ride home was.....well, a little slower paced

Cold this morning. I wore a hoodie under my helmet. I need to get something to protect my face.

Windy!!!! Today was a steady 25 mile per hour wind with 40 mile per hour gusts. I was not looking forward to the ride home, but I haven't had that good of a workout in months.
Pleasant ride home. A cold front came in this afternoon so the temp went from low 80's to 56. I seem to have overdressed for it. This morning I wore my biking shorts and a wicking t-shirt. I pack my arm/leg warmers as always and also packed raingear (lightweight rainjacket and pants I got at walmart) in case it stormed. For the trip home, I put on my arm and leg warmers and put on my rain jacket. I was sweating buckets by the time I got home. I now learned that raingear with layers underneath make for great insulation. I'll keep this in mind for when it really gets cold.

Chilly ride home...But, I don't have to go back to work until Monday and that made the ride sweet.

Good commute both ways. Felt like I was really going slow the whole way home. I did have a head wind but still. I think I want to get a computer just so I know if it's in my head or not.

2 inches of snow this morning and gusty winds. It was okay getting to work but it's odd to dress back in all my gear for the ride home. The gusting wind never stopped and temps stayed low. Wife beat me home because the wind slowed me down by 15 minutes.
