Very windy this morning. Wind from the SW, my route: SW. The ride home should be fun, provided the wind direction doesn't change! The legs were still sore from yesterdays 65 miles, so I just put it in a low gear, and spun my way to work.

What better way to start out a Monday?

34F/2C light breeze. Some fog hanging just over my head for part of the ride. Made for an interesting ride. Once past the fog bank, brilliant sun.

Sure was a nice morning today. High thin clouds texture the sky, very low wind and decent temperatures. It's been colder and wetter the last week or two so this was a welcome change. The aftereffects of all this moisture of late is that the air was quite humid, but otherwise ideal riding weather. I got a decent amount of riding in over the weekend and a severe lack of sleep last night so I was not exactly in peak form. Still made decent time and enjoyed just spinning in the nice weather.

Cool and breezy this morning. I should enjoy it while it lasts.

Light thin clouds & 56F this morning, by afternoon it became clear & sunny, 72F just beginning to feel like Summer is coming.

Nice ride in this morning. A little breezy but not to bad. the tempature was around 64F. Bought some new tires this past weekend for the commuter. Really nice so far. I went from a 26 x 1.90 to a 26 x 1.5 and higher pressure. made for a nice ride in. The tires are Specialized Nimbus.

We have a beautiful day here today, which made for a delightful ride to work. Also have a training ride lined up with a colleague afterwards so I will be making the best of the weather.

Headwinds upwards of 10 mph. Why always headwinds.? Wind around here is quite variable, due to microclimates, I guess..
Slows me down getting into work..Only averaged 12 mph. About 4 significant hill climbs on way into work.
Sun was awesome..Has been last couple weeks... Can see the white spots on my face from the helmet's chin straps and under the sunglasses.
I love the sun..Nothing more pleasant that a ride in the sun with moderate temperatures......HOpe Coppertone Sport 30, is up to the job.

Overcast skies and moderate wind, but this morning it was WITH me. It was a little cool, but that is nice, so I don't have as much "freshening" to do when I get to work.
I'm already looking forward to the ride home...:)

This morning, it was 96 F/21 C and cloudy for the ride in. I have to say that this is the beginning of my least favorite season for riding. Still, it is speing, not summer, and conditions are fairly comfortable.

We are right in the middle of one of our 17 year cicada cycles. These are large, clumsy insects, resembling giant flies (about 1.3 inches/5 cm), that emerge from underground burrows, molt, and fly into the treetops to sing. The most interesting part is riding through different neighborhoods and hearing the change in the volume of cicada song. They are very loud where the trees are old-growth.

This morning it was sunny, cool (43 F/7 C), no wind, and NO water bottle. Doh! Newbie mistake. Packed everything else, but forgot the water bottle!

I think it's quite clear that nearly every car commuter fantasizes about driving in a NASCAR (or bumper car!) race!

73F/23C cloudy and drizzling. I'm proud of the exercise I'm getting by riding to work. But I had to follow a Metro Bus and breathe diesel exhaust for a mile. I wonder which is worst… no exercise or crappy air? Other than the bus… it's all good.

May is National Bike Month! Austin, TX sponsors such as local coffee shops, restaurants, and bars will be handing out freebees this Friday morning and afternoon happy hour to promote public and alternative means of transportation. Bike shops and various supporters are doing their part as well. Dose anyone have this kind of stuff going on in their community?

Mid 30s for the ride in with high thin clouds.

The ride home was low 50s with heavy clouds just waiting to rain on me.

Got to my steep climb just before my place. Started the climb. Thought to myself, "Lets hammer the hill." Well, the bike had other ideas! My right peddle broke on a down stroke while I was standing mashing my way up the hill. Went down hard. Smacked the back of my head with considerable force. (thank god for helmets) Something cut into my right thigh ripping my new heavy weight tights. Also cuts to my right wrist. Also a bit of a headache now.

Well, I'm off to take some Aleve and change out the peddles on commuter bike. :rolleyes:

EDIT: The helmet I am wearing in my avatar is now retired. Its like loosing an old friend. It was the most comfortable helmet I owned. :(

Really nice morning ride today. Mid 60s (F) nearly cloudless skies and wind that could gust strong but wasn't too bad. Still tired (another night of poor sleep :( ) but I enjoyed the ride. I rode home around 1:30 as I had to go to a dentist appointment. Temps in the low 70s (F) wind at my back, this was a great ride! Then I threw the bike in the car and took it to the shop for a pre tour tune-up.

Beautiful day down in Olympia also. A few puffs of wind with the sunshine but great cycling weather. We must be on the same dental plan Kodama, I had the same previous appt. time you did & I'm going back again tomorrow afternoon. I was in to our local shop, the Bike Stand, last Friday to see if they could order some Honjo fenders for my Grand Jubile but l ended up with a set of Giles Berthoud Stainless Steel fenders with a leather mud flap for the front. The hardware set required a lot of drilling to install, so I paid to have the shop mechanic, Corey Thompson, do the build. Money well spent. I picked the bike up at lunchtime today. Really looks great. Don

I got great service as well from the Bike Stand back when I lived there. They really helped keep my old mountain bike running on a poor college student budget. Another Olympia shop that shall remain nameless basically refused to fix it informing me that it would cost as much as buying a new bike! Those Berthoud fenders are sweet, does the Bike Stand keep Berthoud products in stock?

Ouch! I don't think I've ever completely broken a pedal in one hit before, that really sucks. Hope you heal quickly. Some of the pedals you can get these days are pretty robust, so you might want to shop around a bit to ensure there isn't a "next time" for that particular accident.

Hi Kodama: Bill said he had several sets of those SS fenders. The clincher for me was the Leather mud flap. Fenders & hardware came to $64 & the mud flap was $16.95 so the total was still under the cost of a set of Honjos & Stainless is more durable. One of my coworkers has a set of Honjos on his Gary Fisher Touring bike & they look great too but he had to put extra stays & mounts on to get a solid fender with no rattles & then one of the aluminum mounts fractured early on. I'll have to get a picture up soon. So far my dentist has just been doing some badly needed cleaning but I'm scheduled for a crown later this Summer. One of my molars has some fatigue cracks around an old filling & its time to do something about it. Thank God we live in a time when good dental help is available. Don

The rides have been great this week. The weather in the morning has been a sunny 10 degrees C with no wind. The afternoons have been a lovely 20ish.

Unfortunately as I've moved to the offices my ride has got shorter, down to 4.5 miles from 7, so I'm still on the hunt for ride extensions which are worth making (i.e. not clogged up by traffic)

First ride of the week. Been on study leave and using the opportunity to rest my knee injury from the weekend. CPA exam today, 42km round trip, the knee held up pretty well. Got the usual abuse from the rednecks who see wearing red as an act of provaKKKation, but I really don't care about that very much.

On the way home this morning, no fog, sun was great...Was in 60's soon after the sun came up...Great ride...ONly negative..Going up a hill...Road is wide enough. But some van did not feel the need to give me so much as a couple inches of road...
Closest a car has come to me in a long time..ALmost felt I could feel the exhaust blasting me- he was so close.
Why do people do that...Would never see them well enough to identify them, should they cause us to crash.
Does not the law say, they have to yield... Maybe even slow up enough to let passing car pass, so they can make room for us...At the top of my lungs, swore at the sob...Doubt he heard me or cared.
