Hi there! This is my first post. However, I have been an avid reader of the forum for some time.

I have to admit I have been a fair weather commuter up until today. My first commute in the rain, 14(C) not much of a wind, was very invigorating.

So much fun that I may invest in some actual rain gear.... Wringing out my socks into the toilet at work is an experience I only want to enjoy once. :rolleyes:

Great ride this morning with perfect low-60s temps. I left a little bit later again (got sucked into the tour coverage...), but made great time to work. The legs were feeling good, and I was able to spin in pretty high gears. It felt like a fast trip.

Short ride this morning, chilly, missed train... legs and brain sloggy today. Home trip will attempt transport of laptop in new Bike Bureau + Tom Bihn Brain Cell combo.

My buddy and I had a great ride in today. Always seem to have a headwind along the American river in the AM and then it reverses for our ride home in the PM - oh well. Still tweaking my new bike (Bianchi Axis) - having problems with hands falling asleep.

Welcome! I, too, lurked a long time before posting. It has only rained on me once on the way to work, but several times on the trip home. I enjoyed those rides.

Do you ride all the way into Sacramento? The ARBT isn't technically my commute route but I do a training ride before work a couple of times a week. We ride from downtown to the bridge at Arden Park and turn around.

Today was very mellow: still full from last night's dinner. We took my parents to their favorite Spanish restaurant for their 37th wedding anniversary. I ate way too much paella but I figure if it's good for Indurain, it's good for me.

No commute in, but I did take a 24 mile ride in the afternoon. I headed up the Cherry Creek path from downtown out to the resivoir.

When I got up there and turned around I noticed a storm had built up, no worries they usually blow right over. I thought I would wait it out, but after 15 minutes it only got darker. I took off right into the storm. The trip will definately make it onto my list of stupid things I've done that I really enjoyed.

I had to travel to our capital city of Helena for work today. So I rode into my office. Then Coleen stopped and picked me up on here way to work. Anyway, on my way to the Helena office I passed 3 loaded tourers just inside the Helena Valley. All I could think was, "Man. If only I had 7 hours to get there I would have rode too!" It was a near perfect day for it too.

My commute home after dropping the car back off to Coleen was great! A bit on the windy side again, but that is nothing new. Temps were in the low 80F range.

Pretty standard morning today, very overcast but nearly no wind. Witnessed the usual friday slump and only saw 1/2 dozen other cyclists. On my ride back I took a detour to the Trader Joes's to grab something for dinner and then did a wandering ride back, working out a nice route that just climbs the edge of the valley walls and is a nice mix of up/down and flat. Turns out to only be a couple of miles longer then the river trail route.

It was overcast all day down here also with only a few sun breaks. Although rain appeared imminent, I only had a few sprinkles on my commute. About 1/2 hour after I got home we had a true downpour but it only lasted about 15 minutes. Just like you, I saw few cyclists out today. Don

A Saturday in the office. Rode in, no traffic, would have been a pleasant commute not for the fact that it's supposed to be my day off! On the one hand it kept me from my group ride this morning. On the other hand it gives me an excuse to let the grass grow a little longer.

Looking out of my window, I can see a paletero (Mexican popsicle guy) who's jerry-rigged his pushcart as a bike trailer. I hope he's still out there when I get out.

Not a good day for me. The morning ride was great, but the very first office call a cat got caught in my sleeve and bit me 4 times. By the end of the day my arm was hurting and a half mile from work the upper bracket of my rack decided it was fatigued enough to break, so I had to rummage through my assorted velcro straps & zip ties to patch things up enough to get home. Now I have to help Dan get his heavy EZ-1 on top of the car for the ride we are doing tomorrow morning with our kids. The next new bike in our house has to be a lighter recumbent for him. end of whine.

I work on the weekends. One thing it is good for is less traffic. I had to work on the day shift today. I missed my peaceful night ride. Big surprise, my husband rode his bike about 20 miles to meet me for the trip home and we found a Polka Concert presented by the Parks & Recreation Department in Hines Park. We had fun waltzing/dancing in our bike clothes. It was in a Polish pocket of the neighborhood. Lot's of fun today.

16 Degrees C this morning, yes, this is what passes for a "winter" morning around here. Legs a little sore from the last two days, but that's normal for a Monday. Not much excitement, which may or may not be a bad thing.

Parts didn't arrive before the weekend so I cycled in today with a still dodgy vehicle. Very overcast this morning but very little wind and quite cool. It was fairly good. I hope summer comes along soon, I'd like a little really nice weather to cycle in.

Got parts now so I should have a fully functional bike in a day or two. :)

Finally....my new Cross Check is complete and I'm back on the trail. I've had brake issues that delayed its completion by about 2 weeks. I took it out for a test spin yesterday and made my first commute this morning. It's a fast ride and I likely shaved a few minutes from my normal time (haven't re-calibrated and installed my new computer yet). I had a nice ride in this morning although I could tell that I'm a little off after a few weeks of inactivity(huffing and puffing on weak legs and sweating profusely), hopefully I'll bounce back soon. The weather was hot and humid but I didn't really notice much else. I was too busy testing the bike. Also, some @ssh*le on a Kestrel tri bike really pissed me off. Although he called his pass, he passed really close, crowding my lane on an otherwise empty trail. I could let that one slide but as I followed behind (I was riding at a comperable speed), he became upset and waved me by, simultaneously slamming on his brakes and coming to a complete stop. I steered around him and we had words then I shifted up and dusted him. I had been about 12 to 15 feet behind him when he suddenly stopped. I had intended to get in his draft but hadn't yet. I know we've discussed drafting and other etiquette on the forum before, but this begs the question of how much of the trail/road you can reasonbly claim as yours. I could understand if he didn't want me on his wheel but, does he have the right to be upset if I'm sharing the trail, at a similar speed, behind him, at a distance of 12 or more feet? To presume that he still owns that space under those circumstances is a little arrogant. I could understand having saftey concerns with an unknown rider 6 to 12 inches from your rear wheel and wouldn't begrudge him waving me around had I done that, but slamming on his brakes created an unnecassary hazard that might not have otherwise existed. Maybe it's just that triathletes can't legally draft in races and he was hyperconscious of my presence and became irate. In any case, his actions were disproportionaly severe under the circumstances as my idea of safe drafting drafting is more like 5 to 6 feet. Either way, his actions almost earned him an early morning @$$-whoopin'.

Another rain day! Heavy rain shower, 18(C), 20Km wind in my face.... A ride of epic proportions (well for me anyway)...

As drivers kept looking over at me and shaking their heads, I would smile and nod. I then continued to loudly hum the 1812 Overture and push forward....

It's not just a commute, it's an adventure! :D

The warmest morning for me so far, temps were in the low 70s, they are expected to be in the high 90's by this afternoon. There was no wind to speak of. It was a great ride in. I counted 23 other people on bikes this morning.

Last week I was experiencing an annoying creak when pedaling uphill under load, I overhauled my bottom bracket and the creak is gone.

It's summer time in Georgia! Nice ride in with my son, light traffic, temp about 80°F with 70% humidity.

Rather cool ride in this morning. Temp. around 42F with a light breeze. I was cold nearly the whole way.

put on a new saddle last night, had to stop 3 times to adjust it, but it's much better. The cyclocomputer says 5.5 miles and 19.2 average speed. I'll have to doublecheck the circumference setting on it.

Mostly flat, only one small hill, no wind. Good news is that they've removed the dead boar that was on the side of the road, bad news is that they didn't remove the stink.

After the shower at work i realized that i didn't bring any underwear...oh well...today is COMMANDO STYLE!!!

A new day camp location for my daughter, so I now start the day with nearly an hour of pulling a trailer. The new route is quite a change for me, as it uses one of the county's bike trails. Compared to the streets, it is nice to have no intersections and beautiful scenery, but not nice to have no meaningful road signs. Undecided at this point whether or not I support the trail system.
