These past two weeks have been a little tough for commuting for me. My work changed my schedule to 8:00pm-6:00am. I thought it would be perfect for commuting! I had no idea how tired I'd be!! Tonight was my last night and I did ride in. Really nice sunset. Upper 70s. It's supposed to be in the lower 60s in the morning. Nice.

Tried a new way to work today. Took about a 1/2 mile out of the way. But far less traffic. My speedometer quit half way through my ride home. No lights on the side road either. But took my good light and everthing worked out good. Nice ride. Thanks.

Great ride today. Foggy and 55 in the AM...70 on the PM commute. No stopping for "technical issues".

came back from a friend around 11pm tonight. It was 59F, which I find to be a very nice temperature for biking. The bike path was empty, and the wind was null. I made such good speed, and there is something eery about riding in the night, with no one around.

Was a great week. I worked all summer to get strong enough to commute and this was my first week. Rode to and from the office 3 days and to work today. Wanted to commute home, but had family plans.
8.5 each way, was a great week for me!

BenyBen, I agree. There is something a little eery riding at night. I usually leave for work at 5:30am. I take neighborhood streets and there isn't much traffic (if any). In the winter, it gets deathly quiet. Gives me the jitters just thinking about it. The good kind of jitters.

Rode to work this afternoon..Santa Ana winds out..Slowed me down by about 20 minutes...Headwinds the whole way, so it seemed..A little over 90 as I approached the plant.

This morning I stopped to take off my jacket, and in my bike light I saw the most amazing thing- it was a spider web floating by through the air, just as delicate as it sounds, as slow as it could be and still move, with a tiny little spider riding on it like a magic carpet. Who knew spiders did that? I love spiders so I was doubly impressed. Biking rocks

The shoulder's mobility has actually improved a bit since the ride, but I now have a sore IT band in the right knee, and I didn't sleep particularly well last night.
I bussed to work this morning -- mechanical issues with the bike more than anything else. There will be a full stripdown and rebuild tonight and tomorrow night, so I should be back commuting on Wednesday as a shakedown.
I have a flat 400km in north-western Victoria this coming weekend. It should be a cinch compared with yesterday. Really just 10 daily commutes in the space of 30 hours

Monday morning, the early sunlight picking out the threads of high golden cloud. A local holioday so the roads were empty as well. Special.
Though I've just rebuilt the bike so I was a bit preoccupied with mechanical niggles rather than the glorious morning.
Have a good week everyone

My ride in this morning started out great, nice cool morning with very light traffic, I got most of the way in to work and broke my rear shift cable, rode the rest of the way, about 3 miles with only one small hill in the 11 tooth cog in the rear. I need ti tie off the cable somewhere in the middle of the cassette for the ride home. The afternoon weather is forcasted to be nice so the ride should be pleasant but not fast.

Monday recovery ride for me today -- although my 222km yesterday was somewhat upstaged by Rowan's effort. Had an interesting conversation with a couple of drafting cyclists on the way in this morning (when we had the headwind). They told me I "had a good turn of speed" for a bloke carrying a commute. It was then that I informed them I was backing up from yesterday's effort. I'm not normally one to gloat, but the thought of these guys with $3,000 groupsets drafting a guy carrying a commute and backing up from a big ride the day before is quite an interesting proposition.

Excellent ride this morning. I ride by a small pond at 5:30am and can see the fog covering the water. The water temps are still warm and the cool 56 deg air sets off a nice eery fog. Very nice ride.

Trouble with a lingering cold forced me to take the short route to work this morning, rather than push it over the hills and country lanes. I wish this bugger would clear up and leave me alone - I was starting to feel better on Saturday, now it is getting worse again
.
See you all tomorrow!
Cheers,
Ed

first commute in over 2 weeks (got married, honeymoon, put on weight) not as hard as i was expecting tbh so it looks like the honeymoon "exercise" kept the fitness at a decent level.

A crisp 40°F this morning. Just enough to make one pause as one goes outside and debate whether or not a long sleeve might be called for.
Dawn has just been breaking as I make my way across the swamp/lowlands these days and is cause for me to slow and watch the sun come up thru the attendant mist over the water.
The deer are thick as thieves currently, I had em galloping along down both sides of the road as they search for a break in the foliage to disappear into.
And of course we're currently in the midst of the annual frog migration. Why they need to go from swampy area one to swampy area to is still a mystery. The roadway become littered with hundreds of thier little corpses. You can't avoid em and if you nail em just right you can fling em a good distance with a bike wheel.

Good ride in this morning… 72 degrees and no wind. It was very dark this morning and my new Nightrider digital Head Trip II (new to me) worked wonderfully. I feel so much safer. I'm staying late this evening so my ride home will start at dusk.
The cooler temps have been great. Have a good one.

I had a great ride in this morning, unseasonally warm (61F), beautiful sunrise. My only problem is my headlight died on me, I'm glad I had my front flasher on. I'll have to work on that tonight. Luckly I don't need lights on the way home.

57F this morning, just cool enuf for riding in a t-shirt. I thanked the winds this morning for giving me an extra workout, and making the ride a bit longer. The sky was sunny, and the bike path was almost empty. I saw twice as more women commuting by bike this morning then men, I hope this is a trend starting up.
Just a beautiful morning, with a nice comute. For a while now, I've actully been looking forward to going to work. But comming back is the best. When I get out of work after a rough day, my day is over, and I have a stupid grin on my face I can't wipe out. When I used to commute by bus, I always had this feeling that my evening would start only when I got home. Then I got home stressed out from the overpacked bus, with other stressed ppl.
Ok, enuf typing.

Great ride in this morning very cool, started with a jacket and quickly shed it. No wind that I could see. did my 12 miles in 43 minutes. I haven't felt this good since I was running 70 miles per week, and that was some 10+ years ago. I can't bellieve how focused I feel when I am getting in my exercise like I do now that I finally found cycling to work as a way of life.
