Ride to work was normal. After work I rode to pick up my pay check (7 miles away) and I got there right as some of my coworkers were leaving with their checks and one of them said "wow, your're quick", I said "yea, I am". I felt prety good.

Yeah, well the weather's nice, I was riding directly home so it's only 3 or 4 miles, and truth be told, I really dig it when it flaps in the breeze.

I brought a pair of shorts and a jersey in the backpack today so I'm hoping to add a 10 mile detour on the way home tonight. Godspeed and good weekend, Comrades!

There is some kinda crazy weather system blowing into the SF Bay Area right now, so
the ride home tonight was brutal! Cranking as hard as possible on the middle chainring,
to make a whopping 12mph.

Ride this morning was spectacular though. And maybe, just maybe, my Jamis will arrive this weekend! Overall a decent week - 8/10 bike commutes including one extra-long one home on monday.

Broke a record yesterday on both the inbound and homebound route 2mph Faster!. This morning realized...duh, I broke a record because the commute was 4miles longer and that new section of road was flat and fast. That bumped the avg...so I'm not *really* faster....

Yeah man...anything to be first. I wanna yell out...wanna race? go to the track.

36F this AM with 5mph breeze in my face. 49F cool cross wind (20mph)coming home. More tommorrow, snow or not!

52F with a few clouds at 6AM today. Rode the Miyata to check out the fenders I mounted last night. Everything was OK except for an occaisional rattle that shouldn't be to hard to fix. There were a few ducks & a Blue Heron out back when I ate lunch. It just got balmy & reached 72F this afternoon. Now there's a big fat moon lighting up the landscape. Bright enough to cast a shadow! My morning commute is 16 km through the city. Always a way to avoid unnecessary traffic, and quite a nice time in the morning. Plus my business definitely has a shower .

33F this am w/ steady north wind at 9 O 'clock (15-20 mph).
45F this afternoon, with stronger winds. So I went into it for awhile. Ended up riding over to Lake Michigan, which turned the normal 15 mile round trip into 35+. After a hot coffee & sandwich my toes were warmed & I headed for home. With the N-NEast wind helping only a little, a few times the route turned me south for abit & I could cruise comfortably over 20mph.
Oh.......... it did snow both this morning & afternoon.

I've been caged up for the last five days with some friends on a roadtrip up to Chicago and then went by St Louis on the way home. What a joy it was to get back on the bike.

However I was welcomed home with thunder storms. By the grace of the powers that be, I remembered that I had a rain suit in my car that I acquired from an old job with the water works. It was horrible for breathe-ability(?) but it was cool enough that it didn't matter.

So I took off to the local watering hole and sucked down a couple of cold ones before taking off for another watering hole. Apparently I was more homesick than I thought I was. What a quick zip through downtown. Legs burning along with the lungs as I had to outrun a crackhead with mysterious motives. What fun!

Today the weather looked better from my bedroom window's view but I didn't notice the blistering winds. Just getting back from Chicago, I think this is nothing more than my friend has to deal with on a daily basis, so I head out anyway.

I went to an outdoor art festival (actually I drove my bike to the neighboring city that would consume my day just to reach, a brief confessional if you will). I practiced my walking speed through the crowd and received no nasty remarks from the many law-dogs that were around. So I assumed I was doing it right.

The art was more than I could afford and the crowd represented an unnecessary source of resistance so I found other parts of the city to explore. But soon I found that I was on unfamiliar streets and seemed to be making nervous circles, if you will for lack of better direction.

Makes me want to find a name for my bike so that I can call out to her like a lonely sailor or something as pathetically romantic when I'm away.

Starting week three for the season now that the snow has finaly melted. Would sure be nice if I could ride one day without the rain. Although the eight miles is not that tough no matter the weather.

I was caught in the rain Friday afternoon and had a slight fever and was sneezing and blowing my nose all Saturday afternoon. No energy yesterday and the little woman made me rest all day (no riding ). She says I should take it easy today and maybe tomorrow.
Can you say, "Yes dear."

Freaking SNOW on the 25th of April, combined with temperatures around 0 C and slick tires means my bike stays in the garage.

Chilly commute this am, mid 40's. Spent 3 great days in NYC, not biking but saw a lot of bike messengers doing some crazy riding.

Train commute today. Why? Because I felt like it. I expect tomorrow I'll be back on the bike.

This morning was welcomed in by heavy rain - a great start to Monday. Also my front wheel bearing was making ominous sounds (again). Despite this the ride was rather enjoyable!

Beautiful ride in this morning. Had to negotiate some branches and trash left by the county tree trimmers. Hopefully they'll get the mess cleaned up by tomorrow. Forecast is for a 20 mph headwind this afternoon.

This morning I woke up late due to operator error on the alarm clock. I opted to be a few minutes late instead of using the car. Speaking of using the car, I've only used 10.5 gallons of gas since April 9th (excluding that long roadtrip of course).

So anyway, back to the commute. As soon as I get the bike out and the door closed behind me, I realize that I've left my keys inside. Ooops, looks like I won't be getting into my desk today. The ride in was a little chilly but it didn't take long to warm up.

Now I'm wishing this day was done so that I can get back on the bike. The weather is pretty awesome right now.

Another great morning commute.....-2c with a little headwind and sunny. I never thought I would look forward to Monday but some weekends I don't get the solo time in I need; therefore the Monday commute is really appreciated. I love my family (1yr old, 2 yr old, 8yr old and off course my spouse) but the 1.5hours per day of alone time on the bike is pretty awesome. I can't wait till the end of the day to ride home to see my girls.

The ride in was fine, weather-wise (sunny and cool, 38°F). Had a little run-in with a cager in a Honda minivan. He didn't like me taking the lane at a 4 way stop and passed me-speeding-in the middle of the intersection!. I was able to catch him at the next stop sign and loudly asked him to "please don't kill me, I don't want to die!" And of course, all he could do was give me the tired old "roads are for cars" and "get a car". I don't think I made a convert this morning! Maybe I'll just wait for him some morning at that intersection and take his picture. (BTW, the tight 4 way intersection is one short block from a school and usually has a lot of kids, parents, dogs, and bikes passing through it). I hope the ride home is better...

Today was my 3rd commute. A little chilly, 42 degrees when I left at 8:15 a.m. I warmed up, though. I live off of an "access road" that is a one-way, running parrallel to the interstate, merging where they share an exit at the main road. From where I live, there is no way (aside from riding on sidewalk) to avoid it. Anyhow, I am next to a school bus and a young man (13 or 14 years old) tells me he would have hit me and what am I doing riding a bike on a busy road. I told him and he re-asserted he would have run me over. Guess that is why 13 year olds don't get drivers licenses.

Chilly, low 40's, but sunny breezy and invigorating . . .

Hmm today's commute was terrible. Temp in the high 30s with a mix of rain, sleet, and snow. Wind was up and the sun was hiding.

I still did it though and finally got some use out of my fenders (it hadn't rained here since I got them). Not sure where the heck this weather came from in late April but it is welcome to go back there ASAP.
