I had agood ride to work and home . It is still hot out tonite even at the time I get out of work . I do not mind riding in the heat as long as I keep moving . Have a good nite .

Good ride in this morning. Tempature was right around 71F but very humid. I also got my share of gnats and other flying bugs in the mouth and face this morning. Yummy! Supposed to be a humid day and chance of thunderstorms all day long through out the rest of the week.

A comedy of errors.
Let's see the air went out at my place last night so I didn't sleep well and overslept this morning. Then I realized I hadn't packed my messenger bag by the time I got on the road I was 30 minutes behind schedule. More traffic than I'm used to and oh yeah I forgot my water. Get work with just minutes to spare and guess what, no socks. |

Gnats are good. Protein. Helps you go faster. :)
It's just oppressively humid. Everything is great unless I stop. My ride home yesterday had 93 degrees on the computer and just slowing down for stop signs made me feel like I was in a sauna. I had to mow the lawn when I got home. I rode my bike up. Got out the hose, sprayed myself down, then mowed in my shorts & jersey. I did take off the helmet first, though. This morning's ride was mid-70s and humid. Blech. |
It's been over two weeks since I have been on a bike. All good reasons naturally. I was about to get up this morning when wifey said, "It's going to rain today". I replied "I've ridden in the rain before". Thunder and lightning too" she said. I got an extra hours sleep.
I was in Atlanta last week. Kudos to those who ride in the city. You have to like hills to ride there, for sure. Spotted a few near Emory U and was tempted to flag them down to see if it was anyone here. Back to commuting tomorrow, in the rain. |
How was my commute today? Uncomfortable, just like the rest of you guys.
I would've cycled in the nude if I knew I wouldn't be laughed at and/or arrested. Wind: 0 MPH Humidity: 83% Dewpoint: 71°F At least it's still under 90 degrees at 8:30 a.m. I'm looking forward to a whole week of this humidity.

There were more than the usual number of recreational riders out this morning. I think they have adjusted their riding schedule to avoid the 32C temperature forecast for this afternoon.
|
Flat tire + broken spoke discovered before leaving, compounded with an additional set of semi-planned delays meant that I left an hour late. I took a different route because Central Park would have had cars in it by then. The funny thing is that the traffic volume was radically different (boo!) an hour later, but, people were nicer. It's probably that they felt pity for me riding in the rain today.
Anyhow, despite my mechanical troubles and the rain, it was one of the most pleasant commutes I've yet had. I guess I was mostly happy to be riding the bike and not the subway. :) Gotta get that spoke fixed, though, before I ruin the wheel. |

Sweated like a pig today. yesterday I rode 3 x's, AM, nooner and PM. It rained on me all 3 x's and didn't rain the rest of the day. The rain really brought up the humidity.

I almost died!!! :(
I was in Florida all last week (not a vacation :crash: ) and haven't ridden since June 17. Today was my first day back at it and talk about pain. My 60 year old body was having a tough time. My breathing was all screwed up http://users.pandora.be/eforum/emoticons4u/sad/2.gif but the legs worked ok. http://users.pandora.be/eforum/emoti...happy/1392.gif I hope I'll be "ready" for the ride home this afternoon. http://users.pandora.be/eforum/emoticons4u/sad/944.gif |
Sheesh, it was 52 degrees on the way in. Nice! Got rained on yesterday and most likely will today as well. But it is only suppose to be in the low seventies. Gotta love that!

Today was interesting. My front wheel was rubbing against a brake pad, so I flipped it over to adjust and when I set it right side, I did it too hard and the chain popped off (so I am now covered in grease). It is about 100% humidity and by the time I get to the train, I am soaked and dripping sweat. BTW - my front wheel started rubbing on the brake, again. But, I had the quick release set too tight so in the parking garage spent 20 minutes struggling, with all my strength, to get the quick release to give. I think I worked up an even bigger sweat from that!
Yesterday, I dropped a resume off at a coffee shop (for part-time weekend work) one mile from my house (didn't ride bike). The kid working directed me to print and complete an application from the website, which I just did, to include with the resume. I need to drop it off in person and would like to today. It is about a mile from my house. I get home at about 5 - 7 minutes before 8:00 p.m., they close at 8:00 p.m., so I got extra motivation to be moving fast on the commute home. :) But, they are calling for thunderstorms starting in the late afternoon.... |
Oh! Forgot to mention: On yesterday's ride home, I went by a guy riding a unicycle. ~26" MTB tire. Wearing padding in case he crashed. Just thought that was an unusual thing to see.
|
Woohoo, my first commute in many months... My back's been keeping me from riding as much as I'd like. This week we're house sitting only 3 miles from work though, so I'm commuting. (My regular ride, which I haven't done this year yet, is 12 miles.) Anyway, I'm psyched. The weather was nice. Traffic light. And the seat-post bike rack I got and finally got to use worked out great. Love not having my back all sweaty from a backpack.

Day two's weather was even more crappy for biking than day one's. Humidity has been through the roof the last two days and by the time I make it to work (7 miles) I feel like I've been riding in the rain. Thank God for the showers.
Yesterday's ride home was fun, as I was riding with traffic going to the Red Sox games. I was a little frightened, but I made it home in one piece |
Commutes of late have been generally nice in the morning. The evening commutes have been under thunder and lightning. Even got hailed on once. Strange weather this year.

Good ride to work & home .Have agood nite .

Hot ride home yesterday. I did meet another commuter so that was pretty cool.
Ride in this morning was not to bad. Clear skies but a chance of rain again this afternoon. |
70 degree dewpoint this morning. Uncomfortable. :( I took up position behind a green-clad roadie with panniers. He made a good pace bike, but he bailed off the trail and onto a road less than halfway through my commute. Oh well.
This was a first... The sprinkler system in Burlington's Waterfront Park was turned on. I timed it so I'd ride through one of the jets of water. Mild relief that had disappeared by the time I arrived at work 5 minutes later. There seem to be a lot more recreational trail users in the morning than there were last year. Mostly older women on comfort bikes. Not sure why there's an upswing. Good for them, though... |
last night's thunderstorm was fun to watch, and the rain was needed, but it is going to be another moist day - 68 °F with 67 °F dew point. sweaty! some relief is expected this weekend - hope i can get away to the velodrome...
|
Back to commute after a two week hiatus. A little way into the ride I simply smiled. It was nice to be back. When I drive to work (1 hr later than riding) I see other bikers. However my commute is O solo mio. (It's only me).
See you around. |
Well the little black rain cloud that's been following me lately, visited me on my ride home. Skipped the train, rode 20+miles and got hammered for half the ride by HEAVY RAIN/THUNDER. Very refreshing though! Unfortunately I couldn't see a thing. I was worried that cars wouldn't see me. I had no place to bail until the rains slowed down.
RonH... not that kind of nooner, I could only wish |
