Well the weather guys were way off today. The storms blew through Atlanta around 1 and by the time I knocked off work it was nothing but blue skies and a 20 mph wind.

Ride home was uneventful except I had to carry not just my usual load, but also a pair of ice skates in my bag which made my bag heavier than usual. The Pond at Bryant Park closes on Monday so now I'll have nothing to do at lunch except eat. Or ride. Hmmm...

Odd Friday 13th ride home! A group of skaterboard punks were on the cambridge bike path riding against the painted arrows. I would expect no less from skateboarders, but the lead kid was determined to skate right down the middle of the path. I had my twin beams on and I had the arrows, so I didn't budge either.

We ended up brushing jackets as we passed each other. I think my headtube in his croch ( and a crackling right hook ) would have been more painful than me falling over.

i commuted downtown for a conference on mild traumatic brain injury at the Hilton, which I have to say had a very nice parking area for bicycles underground. Most Toronto underground lots have a well lit and watched area set aside for bikes. Anyways, hearing the longstanding cognitive defects possible with even apparently minor accidents involving closed head injury is enought to make one paranoid. Good thing I had a helmet or I would have never heard the end of it from the MDs.

sigh. no ride. not the wrong decision and i finally had an interesting day at work, but still. mope, mope. they're calling for cannon-fodder to throw themselves onto the bomb this weekend, and i dunno. maybe i'll go just for the sake of getting a ride that's almost like riding for the fun of it. yeah, sure. not bloody likely, really.

We went up to Thousand Oaks (8 miles away) for lunch and were sitting outside in 78 degree weather, not a cloud in the sky, and its the middle of January. Finish up, go down the hill to Cam Town, clean up the office, and leave for the ride home.

The ride home was cold and windy. Temps in the low 60's with a cold wind blowing, clouds forming int he west and north. The ride was fine, and it took about 10 minutes to get home.

For the week 5 commutes of 5. For the year 9 of 9.

5/5 week, 100% so far this year. i saw 2 other riders friday (one walking bike, tires w/air), 2 bikes locked up along route (bussing to atlantic city work?), and way too Many cars. a part of current route includes riding behind old Jamesway store (future site of super WalMart) along RR tracks. enjoy the quite moments!!

Decided to pull some overtime today, and probably should have driven to work. The headwind and sidewind were insane, especially when crossing the river! Upon arriving to the office, I check weather.com and find out that sustained winds were 20mph with gusts above 30, which when mixed with the 27f temperature made for a punishing ride in to say the least. Being forced to pedal hard in the drops for an 11mph average, I keep repeating two things to myself:

1) At least it's dry

and

2) I probably won't have to pedal home

yespatterns,
jet propulsion either direction is a good thing (but you still have to pay for it one way or another) !

Ride in was nice with the new 32 watt headlight. It beats the heck out of a 5 watter. Weather was 38 degrees and windy, felt colder starting off. It was nice being back after being off 2 days with an injury. The ride home was fast, so I added in an extra mile so it didn't have to end so soon. It was 40 degrees, but no wind so I really went for it on the way home. Yay endorphins!!!

Perfect Ride this AM.

A little cooler than usual for Fort Lauderdale FL, about 58f.

Typical travel time, 20 minutes.. I did not push it even in the slightest like I normally do ...

Awesome ride.

The ride in this morning was nice, 24f temps, no wind, and clear skies. Saw another rider this morning as I approached the bridge, and thought it might be another HHCMFer, but it turns out it was just a mmountain biker out for a morning run on the park system trails.

50F on Friday afternoon. 2F this morning. What a difference. Each ride was fun. Friday was spring-like and nice. This morning was frosty and the snow crunched under my tires. I wore a balaclava and ski goggles. No exposed skin.

Hmmm - I wonder if that explains your hair loss too? No, the cat is mite-free [as am I], and the missing eyebrows may just be on vacation.

Slow ride in today. I got stuck behind a cyclist doing half my speed and couldn't be bothered to go around him. Then he starts filtering and slows down the entire lane, instead of just me. Calgary drivers are very patient and forgiving on a Monday morning. The sunrise today is spectacular. Hues of pink and gold washing over the snowy mountains, full moon hanging low in the sky.

It was my birthday commute today. Very nice, 50F, light wind, light traffic, and a stop by the bagel shop.

Morning ride was tough, there was a head-wind of over 15 mph ... I had to fight it the whole way since I work south of my house today...... lol

ANyway, it took me 4 more minutes than usual to get to work.

But I made it alive !!!!! and it didn't rain !!!! WOOOT !!

Average Speed: 60 / 35 * 5.2 = 9.1 mph

suxors.

First ride in this week. Pretty warm for Jan (50s already) and wet this morning. No rain though, so that was nice. This was only my second commute this year, I have been slacking for these first two weeks with the rain and being so busy. I am hoping to ride the rest of this week though since it will be so warm here. Looking forward to a nice ride home this afternoon.

55 degrees this morning and overcast. Nearly ran over by a lady driving in near dark conditions with no headlights.

Great ride in, temps around 34f, little traffic, and best of all I missed the incoming stormfront!

Another crisp morning ride around 0F degrees. Beautiful morning. Blue skies and a nice sunrise.

A fellow crazy fool got on the trail ahead of me. We were dressed similarly with ski goggles and what-not. I stayed behind him for a while, then a pile of clothing fell out from somewhere on him. I think he was carrying it under his coat. He had to stop so that was the last I saw of him since I was almost at my "exit."

Tomorrow is going to be interesting to say the least. Sleet, freezing rain, and wind. Could be an inch of ice. (Studded tires!)

Nice ride in today. Forgot to put my gloves on when I left and a mile later I was forced to put them on cuz it was so cold. It's supposed to rain tomorrow and me with no rear fender. Think I'll go shopping online today for some Freddy Fenders. Won't have them for tomorrow, but I'm sure it'll rain a few more times this year.

It was 32F this AM, a far cry from the 60's enjoyed last week. Legs felt strong. 1st commute since last Weds. (took a little time off). I guess winter's back. Charlie
PS: T-7 weeks for the closing of my train station

Oh man, I'm so tired. I got to work an hour early to prep for a course I'm teaching today. I hate mornings. My morning Coke just isn't working. I may need to have a second one. Non-descript ride in today. I won't be heading home tonight until after 10 p.m., so I hope I don't fall asleep at the wheel/handlebar.
