Gonna do the same thing
My MTB will be relagated to "winter" duty..i'm going to a bike swap at the end of the month to get a good "spring/summer/fall" ride....
enjoy your ride.. :) |
Long day at work, But good commute.
Have a good nite . |
20.53 miles 1 hr 30 mins (ride time). 36 degrees; very slight head wind.
I got stopped by a train today for the first time. The bad thing about waiting for a train is that all of the usually light early morning traffic backs up making for a couple hundred yards of high intensity, heavy traffic until they pass. |
Nice ride today! Cool, light traffic, no drama. I rode my new roadie this weekend so it felt strange getting back on the Lemond. The Lemond is so tall and upright, I can see why my Fuji is so much quicker.
|
very nice. short sleeves/shorts temps in the 70's (broke 100 locally, yesterday). Went for the 'extra 10' option and the bike held up for me. I apparently blinded a guy on the trail with my light, so if you are huge, riding an mtb and wearing a plaid shirt with cut off sleeves, riding in Fort Worth, this morning, My apologies, I adjusted it downward, after you passed.
Still got to the station with 20 minutes to spare, so I took a fast spin around the downtown area to kill time. Flying bugs killed = 32,683. Flying bugs ingested = 14 Miles ridden = 21 Bike parts broken = 0 Beautiful Sunrise? True Hard sprints = 4 Rabbit-sized mammals lunging at my wheel (probably nutria) = 1 |
Annoying commute. My rear derailuer was acting wonky, skipping between two or three gears. It tried adjusting it a couple of times along the way, finally got it good enough for the rest of the ride. Rear tire seemed to be getting flat as well along the ride, hope I don't have a flat by the end of the day.
|
Rode the mtb today to test out the new brakes and levers. They work well, but the grips are still sliding all over the place which is annoying. I must've put a little too much hair gel on them. Oh well, I'll have to fix that later.
|
-1 today on the ride in, but it's going to be t-shirt weather on the way home. The second group road ride of the season is tonight, so I'll be taking it easy on the way home. No sense in getting all tuckered out before the ride.
|
I took a 23 mile detour across the Sacramento into Yolo County. Windy and cool but brilliantly blue skies above. I tried out my new bullhorn/aerobar set up since I'm thinking of using this bike as a tribike this summer. Of course it still only has one gear so I was spinning like a madman. Which ain't necessarily a bad thing.
As I came into town I overtook a few fellow commuters: a guy on an older Nishiki with a squeaky chain (that would drive me insane); an older guy on a bike with an electric assist motor; and yet an older guy on a Trek 5200 (recognized it on sight since that's my geared bike). I gave them all a hearty good morning and blazed past like Lance passing Jan. |
no ride this morning, have to ship an e-bay sale, (funding my cycling habbit by selling old car parts :-) but I brought my bike in my car, and plan to leave the car at work and ride home, VERY windy this morning, probably will be just as windy on the way home. Will make for an interesting ride.

Broken spoke
Got a little extra resistance training. Broke a spoke at the start of my commute to work and had to ride there and home with the rim rubbing on the brakes and the tire rubbing on the frame.
|
Back on the bike this morning after missing Friday and Monday due to picking up and taking my brother back to Camp Lejeune. He, a marine, just got back from Iraq and came up to visit over the weekend. It was nice to have him back after 7 months over there.
Had a nice ride in this morning. Temps in the mid 40s so I wore some light pants and was warm enough. Made pretty good time and I was happy to be back on my road bike after getting a flat last week. Temps should be close to 70 for the way home tonight :) |
A Great Ride!! 15 miles, on my newly built Biach Brava ($5 at a garage sale), took me 16 David Byrne songs on my i-pod, to get to work. Beautiful day. a Crisp spring morning, and only 1 car tried to cut me off, right in front of 2 cops (not that they did anything). I had to tell her to put her crack pipe away and drive! I swear, she started to pass me 20 feet before the intersection, and then actually started to turn before I screamed at her...LOTS of profanity!!!
Other than that, a great ride. |
Great ride this morning. Light traffic for some reason. Is it a holiday? ;)
The ride home will be different. I get a massage every 3-4 weeks. I have an appointment today after work. Usually I drive to these appointments but the weather has been awesome, so..... I hope my leg muscles aren't toooooo relaxed afterward. I'll still have ~4 miles to ride. |
Some lady decided it would be funny to run me over. Thankfully for her she missed by about 1 inch. I could have scratched her beautiful black suv up. People who see people and have no lack of care really upset me
|
Great commute both ways today. It was also my last day of classes as a college student; I'm graduating at the end of the month, after I get through final exams. :D No better way to celebrate it than a great commute and a beautiful day.
|
98°F and a slight headwind waiting outside for me right now.
I leave in ~30 minutes. Pray for me. |
Got my first flat tire today. I've been commuting for two weeks now. My rear tire was cut by a small rock. I'm thinking that I need better tires or tire liners... I was really glad that I had the necessary tools (tire levers, spare inner tube, pump) to change the tube on side of the road though :)

Glad you're ok... |
During my ride to work this morning I saw a peacock. That is a strange sight for an urban setting. It was a nice day for riding.
|
still spinning safe here! commute distances amping w/ better weather!
'bike-to-work' week/day is approaching and our team psychiatrist (for consumer's, not team members!) suggested at last x-mas party that all team 'players' would commute to work, those who didn't (or could not) would treat riders to lunch. i encouraged that, of course, others followed in enthusiasm ! we'll see what really unfolds; will give all support needed for all follow-through! |
TG: Glad you're ok and the woman's got bad aim.
jumpr: Congrats! Ride home included a detour to the bank. Otherwise it was uneventful. Then I went to CP to practice trackstanding. I need more practice. First ride in shorts this year and it felt good! |
Thirty degrees when I left at 4:30 this morning; 70 when I started home at 3. Bundled up on the way in, shorts and T shirt coming home. It's GREAT to be back on the bike after laying off all through March because of daily Grand Jury duty, in addition to work before and after each day, leaving no time for a bike commute, so I had to drive. I'll have to drive tomorrow, too, as I have an early appointment to interview a man so that I can write an article in a local newspaper touting his business.

My ride was a delight today. A long day that started with a ride in at 7:45am and a ride home at 9:15pm but without a doubt the bike rides were the best part of the day. Had to sprint from downtown Boston over to BU and then back downtown again mid-day but it was nice to get in the extra workout. It was a relief to have so little wind tonight after getting blown about all weekend on the bike. |
Another pleasant ride this morning. I could see my breath when I left, but it had warmed up significantly when I arrived, just 20 minutes later. The sunrise makes a big difference! I can't wait until I get my new tires on... they shipped yesterday and I hope the USPS doesn't drag its feet too much.
I also got to use my 115dB electric horn today... on a pair of jay-walking ducks! I figure I did them a favour, since a bunch of cars were right on my tail. Hmmm, I also really need to clean my chain. It's rather mucky right now and I'm sure it's slowing me down... |
