I should note I was unlocking my bike this morning, felt a little discouraged because I was pretty cold - I just had to keep in my mind "it'll be warm in 2 minutes, relax!" - sure enough, the cold didn't phase me at all until I'd stopped and caught a sweat-chill - need to experiment a bit more with that... But felt really nice to ride in. Was 4C according to CP24 this morning.

Posting from home. No work today as we took the 13th for Veterans' Day.

Ride in was nice. Nice and cool; perfect weather for shorts and my new jersey. I must've ridden over some glass because I had a flat when I left the office tonight. I turned around and went back inside to change it. No sense in changing a tube in the cold and dark when I can do it in the warm artificial light of my office.

40-something F. Light drizzle all the way. Brought a foldable clothes drying rack on my bike rack. Hope it stays this warm for as long as possible.

Very nice ride in today! Clear and ~45F, no winds, no problems with any motorized vehicles. My blinky light batteries seem to be failing though, so I was a bit nervous about not being seen by passing traffic.

Noticed last night my front light was all but out when I got home, so it seems the other night when this was the case I hadn't knocked the switch (not that this is a knockable switch anyway) - just swapped out the batteries when I got in ready for today.
Good ride home, a bit slow but not too bad otherwise - nothing really to report basically 36 mins (35:58). Awaiting payday to get a Planetbike 5000X and then save the pennies for a more permanent solution! :)
Now it's time to suit up for the ride in!

I thought I'd get the grand slam this morning but no... Still - Hwy 9 on the green; Holcomb Bridge on the green and then Mansel road on the green so call it a Triple Crown! :beer: A red on Old Milton Parkway was the only preventing the Grand Slam. One day I'll get it!

Cold!!! And I was late. FD gave me some trouble this morning and I couldn't trim any out of it. I'll be taking it in during lunch for adjustments. I had to stop several times to fix things and make sure I'm going the right way. 43 miles is a long way when things aren't going right. But once I got here it waS all worth it.

Mid 40Fs. Started to sprinkle about halfway to work this morning. Not bad though. A flock of Canadian geese flew overhead, honking away.

Last night I left a little later than normal and wound up riding in mostly-dark. A huge bird swooped out of some trees, over the road, and back into trees on the other side. I think it was either a female eagle, or a great horned owl. The wingspan was 4 feet at least.

Another in-between morning (41F / 5C). Cool when I left but warmed up by the time I got close to work.
Cooperative traffic except for one A-hole.

I don't understand some commuters. Yesterday (31F / 0C) I saw a commuter wearing a heavy jacket, gloves, and (running?) shorts. Saw the same today, different person in a different area of town. He looked like he was wearing tri shorts. Brrrr! Don't their legs/knees get cold? It was cold enough that I wore leg warmers. :o

Mid 40F's. Nice ride in. Traffic was much heavier than normal this morning, and for some reason, all the cages were hugging the right hand side of the road. Since I was in no hurry today, I just kept putting my foot down and waiting my turn instead of filtering or jumping on the sidewalk. Took 50 minutes to go 8.5 miles due to all the stop and go, but I did not even begin to sweat.

Wore my new LG Strada shoes. I got them to use as cold weather shoes. Thought I'd try them on a morning when the temps weren't freezing. They have very small vents so almost no cold air gets in. They were warmer than my other cold weather shoes so they get two thumbs up. :)

Nah. As long as I keep my core warm, I don't need full-length coverage on my legs until it gets into the 20s, and even then it depends on how much work I'm doing. Maybe the guy you saw is from "the north." :)

Good ride in today, TV said about the same temp. but it felt much warmer this morning. Little damp on the roads from mist/drizzle, but no rain.
Had a *very* close buzz from one moron (I'd taken the lane, too) who still wanted a part of my lane, only to stop at a red light anyway (sadly I didn't make the light prior so didn't catch him). Then had a guy pull alongside me at the lights when I was in the centre of the left-most straight-on traffic lane (one way street, had a left turn lane too) which was odd, but I didn't care, there was lots of room and he flew off anyway.

32 mins, and caught a whole bunch of greens on the way down Sherbourne, felt great to not have to stop and keep the 22+mph I had for a bit. :) Though I did get an odd look from a female cyclist when she met me at the red I caught - I rang my bell as a 'I'm coming past' notice (I usually do this as a courtesy) - not sure if that caused the odd look or not.. I didn't say anything to her, though.

High 40's / low 50's in DC this AM. Roads a little wet from the night before, but not much of an issue. More of a concern with all the leaves on the MUP. Some cager yelled something out of their window as they went past, but must of lost their memory when I caught them @ the next light.

I was on my hybrid (Trek 7300) - the new bike doesn't get here 'till the end of the week. Still, I averaged 16.7 MPH for the 21.5 mile trip, which was a new PR for me. Going home is (usually) faster, so maybe I'll get lucky and break 17 for the first time! (My first commute into work in July was 13.4 MPH).

Impressive speed on a hybrid.

Rode in with a backpack today, which sucks, but had a nice tailwind for a change. My ARC died halfway through, which was surprising. I was coming in late, and the sun was starting to rise, so no big deal.

I turn 26 today and wished I could have stayed at home but I had a nice ride this morning to work. Temps were in the upper 40s and the sun was rising. Didn't have the tailwind that I have had the past few days but I still made pretty good time. Last night on my way home I caught up to another cyclist who was out for a ride. He ended up turning at the first light we came to so I didn't get to say hello. 70s and sunny for the ride home :)

Smile: Love my new jacket. Endura Lomond is the nicest winter/wet weather bike jacket I have eva' pwnd. Riding in 38' weather is very nice. I like it much better than summer. Tailwind. No jerks. Gotta love it. Supposed to begin to rain this evening. Bring it.

I headed out early to ride down to Freeport to get some extra miles in this morning. I rode the fixie, which now has full fenders and tomorrow it'll have a new halogen light. I'm very, very, very pleased with the fenders. No rain this morning but the road was wet and gritty. Pretty typical for the winter here, actually. The fenders kept my feet and drivetrain neat. I recommend them to all commuters, if you're not already using them.

Also pretty pleased that I was able to get up to cruising speed at 19-20mph. With 42x16 gearing, that means I must have been spinning a little more than 100rpm, according to Sheldon's gear calculator.

It's a good day.

mid 40's at 0700 for my 7 mile morning commute from Chesterfield County, VA to Ft Lee. I've been commuting this route for about 2 months. Gotta find a different route as 144/Temple Ave gets nasty. One of those divided highways with 0 shoulder for most of the route.

Gorgeous sunny morning, tacked an extra 5 miles onto am commute. Cold rainstorm due tonight (as opposed to last week's warm one), who knows when the next time it will be sunny...

I was totally running late today for my new job. The alarm didn't go off, and I had to change clothes in the bike lockup. Booooo! Anyway, I think more ice should melt tomorrow, so I should be able to get back onto skinny tires.

I was running late as well-up late...Had a 20.3 avg going until I hit downtown lights. Met up with a guy on the path and we did a few miles together. It was 34 in am. Hopefully it won't rain on me on way home.

60mph gusts today. Good thing I had the tailwind!

took the road route in on the way in this morning and back home on the bike path meeting up with my wife to ride the last 8 miles home together. Beautiful damp evening ride along the Charles River.

Had a good ride home, 35 mins with an avg of 13.8 - got a bit tired heading into a slight headwind both up Sherbourne and across the Bloor bridge - still managed to race/pass a few cyclo-commuters though :D Tired tonight, but will keep at it, hoping a good nights rest will work for me (really want to try for a 5/5 week).

I had a nice, brisk ride this morning. In addition to riding into a headwind, it was 31F. Not too bad, weather.com said 31F feels like 28F. The clock at the bank on the way in was reading 31F. My new route in takes me through some residential streets instead of crowded downtown, so in addition to avoiding traffic lights, I'm avoiding the majority of the crazies. Fortunately/unfortunately it adds a little bit less than .5 miles to my ride, but puts me on a bike lane for most of the detour. This wonderful detour also breaks up my end of the ride hill into a few "stair steps" - thus making it more manageable.

My ride in was fantastic, as well, with it being a bit warmer (45F), and it stopped raining only a couple of miles in. It was nice to ride home without my jacket for the first time in nearly two weeks. I made it home in good time, under 30 minutes, probably due to having the tailwind on the flat, pushing me to over 20MPH for extended periods of time, and I only hit one red light on the way home. :D

Drove half way biked the rest. Frightened a deer off the road/MUP as I bypassed the gate at the park entrance. Talked to some locals about a County plan to get permission to pave the one dirt section of the route.
