The thermomerter said 58f but it sure didn't feel like it. Must have been because of the fog and overcast. I wore the shell and shorts with full finger gloves. Was just about right.

Blinkies were in order this morning as it was a bit dark still. I'll be running the headlight by next week. That will suck because now I have to park my bike outside. I'll have to pull the light off, then remount it every time I ride. Sure wish I could park inside again.

My headlight battery failed about two miles out, so I returned to base, and drove to the train station. It's dark enough at 6:10 that not doing so would have been dangerous. Long sleeves were definitley in order, till I get used to the cooler air, though.

Nice cool weather this morning. I decided to go all out today on the way in and was able to shave five minutes off my best time

This is the start of my second month commuting by bicycle and I'm feeling better than I have in ages, losing weight, and I'm getting so much stronger too. It feels weird looking forward to my commute every day, but I'm loving every second

Didn't need arm warmers but my toes weren't as comfortable as I like for the first few miles. I guess I'll be putting the sandals away soon.
Curses. Fall is a "4-letter" word. Bring on the sunshine and the warm temps.
Nice ride though. The cagers actually behaved themselves today.

The price was $2.48 this morning. What's happening? Seems like a few months back that some "experts" said gas would NEVER be below $2.50 again.

Legs have turned into logs due to my monday long rec ride.
Thank goodness I am off till monday after today. 10th wedding anniversary is tomorrow and I threw in an extra day off on friday. I hate to say it, but it's time to take 2 days off from cycling. Been riding quite a lot. I need to lay off a bit.

didn't ride in this morning. But yesterday afternoon's commute was nice. Only one moronic incident on the way home. I'm riding down windward parkway towards northpoint parkway. There's a sign about 25 ft in front of me that states bike lane is for bikes only. This bike lane ends about 1/4 mile past that sign where a lot of the cagers are making a right hand turn onto nortpoint parkway. Anyway, I'm cruising along about 20 mph and most of the cars are giving my 3 ft of room. About 1/2 way up this small hill a lady in a CRV decides she belongs in the bike lane . I mean WTF is she thinking? So i pull up on her bumper and actually decide to knock on her back window. She acts like she didn't know I was ever there.
How stupid can one be. She just past me less than one minute before.

I got a kick out the guy behind. He was laughing at her as much as I was. I think I'm starting to be able to control my temper some what. I just waved at her and waited till she could get her caboose out of the bike lane.

Black CRV? If so - she's done that to me there too!! BTW - That's a great place to get right hooked if you continue on Windward Parkway. Heads up. What time do you usually roll through there? I'm rolling thorugh usually about 7:05 or there abouts.

I usually roll through that area about 7:45 in morning. Work is only about 1 mile down windward from there, just past westside.

In the afternoon I roll through that intersection about 5:00 to 5:30 depending on work.

I think it was a very dark green CRV...could have been black. I am very bad with colors.

Came in late today, dropped Thing1 off for his 1st day of kindergarten. Little traffic, everyone else was in work/at school by the time I hit the road. A bunch warmer after 9 than before 7!

Saw a cyclist sitting on the sidewalk. I rode up and asked him if he needed any help. He was on his cellphone and he just looked at me, ignored me, and continued talking on the phone. Just ahead was a car parked with its hazards on and next to it was the driver, I assumed. She was on the phone too. Looked like there'd been a bit of a bike-car entanglement. But both ignored me, no one seemed to be hurt, and I kept going.

nice ride in. my knee started to hurt about halfway in, hope this is not a sign of things to come. I coasted a lot and it got better. first trip with my red-haired troll doll strapped to the bars. it's hard not to have a smile on your face when you're looking down at a troll doll. a west indian man sold it to me at a swap meet, and said he had special powers. the troll bike god guards against flats and other bike malfunctions. so far he seems to be working. hey, he even cured my knee! the bike troll is mighty.

Another great ride today. Morning about 10 degrees warmer today (58 F) than yesterday due to overcast skies and some clouds. Rode with nek'd legs today. Bit damp this evening after a few showers rolled through.

Nice day, and cooler than the day before. Had two people thank me for biking. Seems I'm some sort of inspiration to them when they are at the gym, which was nice of them.

Nice ride home tonight on spare steel frame road bike. Seat was annoying - rubbing right thigh. Noticed it was slightly off center and my wrench set was on the other bike - duh! It was the goodbye ride on the Centurian; it sold tonight to finance a riser bar, adjustable stem, and erogon grips on my MTB. Had to have them to alleviate hand pain - riding C&O this Sat/Sun.

up earlier than usual to poke the kid out of bed for first day of school. ergo, left earlier than i have been and arrived earlier. bike cage still stuffed by the time i got there though. had time to go look for some food at the supermarket and then just mooch around eating it before i got serious. all very nice.

after work, took some paper towels outside and spent some time to clean my chain a little and pump the tires back up while the wax set. i discovered this ridge of crud on both sides of both the little derailleur cogs, so i cleaned those out too with a match. strangely satisfying. we're definitely in the equinox month; there was serious sunset taking place by 7:30. left my jacket at home and didn't miss it going or coming, although it is cooler than it used to be. i should start thinking about reflective tape for this bike.

First commute since 8/25. It's been a while, but still felt strong. Nearly broke the 45 minute mark for the 13 mile route (45:12). Glad to see the dense fog they were forecasting never materialized. Hit a pothole really hard around mile 6 and the impact must have shut my blinkie light off. It was quite dark, but apparently all the drivers could still see me as I didn't have any close calls. Got to watch the blood red full moon setting as I was riding...very nice! Will be riding in MS150 this weekend, so am taking tomorrow and Monday off. Sounds like the weather will be quite nice.

Enjoying the light traffic and cooler temps. Get to work and put my bag down to lock up the bike...and my soda explodes all over my clothes.

Either I can clean them up well enough to wear, or I guess it's very casual Thursday

Foggy this AM! Helmet lamp was producing quite a light show thu it; made for a wide-eyed experience. Lots of sleepy/daredevil birds on the back roads occasionally freaked me out. Yeah, the blood red moonset was awesome. Made good time @ 2:01 for 38 miles.

About 55 F, right on the fringe between gloves/long sleeves and not. Was fine after 5 minutes but couldn't feel my fingers at the end. The PM commutes are 100% wonderful this month.

It'll be funny later, once you have new clothes on.

My commute was fast! 50+ mph! In my Tacoma. Have to go from work straight to the airport for a pre-checkride flight with my instructor.

I was going to ride up some single tracks and steep hills this morning but I realized I needed to drive or I'd never make it to the plane in time after work. Oh well. I'll do some fun riding tomorrow.

I did see a bike commuter on my street as I was pulling out of my driveway. Never seen him before. Maybe one of these days we'll ride in together.

Fine ride in this morning. Very cool temps, but I was still sweaty by the time I got to work. Only one very minor incident. Slight wardrobe problems at work, I need to get my emergency clothes box back in order.

Terrible. One of those mornings I wish I could redo. It was super foggy out, so I'm glad I had my lights. My glasses however kept getting wet/fogging over.

One mile from the house something in my seat broke. Instead of being flat, it was pointing up at a 10-15 degree angle. As a guy, allow me to say, that's a painful experience for the next seven miles.

When turning into my work place, I signaled a right turn, brought down my hand, and smacked my helmet mirror. Broke it in two. In an attempt to fix it, I may have made it worse

Wow...a nice ride in today...was able to eliminate some slowspots/stopspots along my route. Took 4 minutes off of my 18.5 mile commute to work reduced riding time to 1 hour 15 minutes, and I felt like I did that leisurely. Should be sunny, cool and only a 4 to 5 mph SSW wind in my face for the ride home...YAY!
