i'm just glad that it's clear enough to get the wheels rollin. i wiped out going down the ramp to the bike path and almost again coming off it. those are the icier sections of the path. didn't get hurt or anything, so i'm just glad i could do some riding. can't wait until i can ride the fixed gear with some confidence, but that might not happen soon since we're likely getting snow again thursday - saturday. argh!!! maybe if wednesday is clear enough, i'll go out for a few miles.

Yippee, -2C with a windchill of -7C. Finally a dry ride to work. I hate 2'C and rain. You can't enjoy any outdoor activity in those conditions. Unless you are waist deep wearing neoprene waders in freezing water fly fishing for winter steelhead. Even then at -2 it is bit drier above water although your eyelets have freezing up issues unless you wax them.

Not sure why but I was really dragging a$$ today. It was really warm, this morning it was in the 60's and this afternoon in the high 70's. The Santa Ana's were blowing today. That might of had something to do with it.

Ride in was 31F, ride home was warm. Trying to really bring up my average speed and get a decent, if short, workout to and from work. The Spring club riding season isn't that far away, and I'll be ready.

Right around freezing this morning. Crosswind with a slight tailwind component but not enough to help much. Smelled a skunk.

22 degrees, light wind....didn't wear enough on my feet. All in all, a good way to start the morning. I love the stares I get from people in their cars, drinking their coffees, all bundled up.

First commute of the new year which means I'm not on vacation anymore. Oh well. Ride in was the usual squeezing between rows of cars, zig zagging and pedestrian avoidance. Cagers behaved themselves although a couple were bewildering at times w/ their slow crawling driving w/ nothing in front of them.

Rotated the tires on my Jake last night - I've managed to wear off most of the center tread on my rear tire. The front was fine. Decent ride in this morning - Made good time (as compared to, say, an asthmatic chihuahua.) I was waiting to turn left on a fairly quiet 4 lane road when a motorist pulled up next to me, rolled down his window and said, "That LED light is great! You can see it a mile away." Since I have 5 LED lights facing rearward, I asked him which one, figuring it was the Planet Bike Superflash on my rear rack. It was.

I love my LBS, they gave me a loaner light when my cygo halo crapped out (again, they've done this before). But, this light doesn't really fit on my handlebars, so it was resting on my brake cable, shining in car's faces (not such a bad thing) and not really showing me the best view of (other) road hazards and potholes and such.

I skipped riding yesterday since it was raining in the morning and I regret it because it was only drizzle and it was sunny by the early afternoon. Oh well, back on the bike this morning and it was finally cold here, temps in the low 30s. I got buzzed by a guy on a moped thing. I guess he felt he couldn't give me space since cars were passing him as well.

28 degrees this morning but felt good enough to ride through Petersburg National Battlefield on the way to work. Saw 2 herds of 8-10 deer.

Only one or two agressive drivers this morning on my commute. Not bad. Chilly though.

Beautiful, beautiful commute. I took the long way in, riding on the Yolo side of the Sacramento River. It was one of those mornings when I felt like I could ride forever. Everything about the ride was just about perfect except for its destination.

A new record for the "shortest distance into the ride I was run into the gutter".
85 feet.
I wonder if my wife could hear me yelling at the SUV.... in the house.

Traffic eased up quite a bit today. It was dry and cold, but not bad. I have to put new parts on the snow bikes tonight, just in case we get hit with some of the white stuff on Wednesday or Thursday.

This morning I realized that I was way early for work and decided to do some yoga at this park that I ride through everyday. I didn't take into consideration that some people don't pick up after their dogs! Long story short, I had a smelly rest of the ride to work!

Just one more reason I always bring extra bags on my walks to clean up after not just my dogs but everyone else's.

Well rode to the dentist before work. No cavities!
Still feet of snow covering the bike lanes. There is a small section of a 30 mph maybe 40 yds where I absolutely have to take the lane. Yesterday this really pissed some dude off but today I waved to the lady who patiently drove behind and she gave a friendly wave back so I feel happy.
Also more snow and very cold on the way for Colorado. Best winter ever! Or worst depending on your prefrence!
