Yea one of my toes and a finger tip were starting to get cold when i arrived at the office.
Cool seeing the steam coming off the lake this morning in the sun. |
I made it easier - relaxed. Didn't run into the lone ranger today. I passed someone last week coming the other way over Crowders Mountain. Not today though.
The dog I race up Morgan Street beat me today. Fat bugger must have lost some weight. I think he had a head start. I had to slam my brakes so I wouldn't run him over. We'll see next time. |
Front page of today's paper: :D
"Weather couldn't be better for Valley Joseph W. High clouds may be present throughout the day Wednesday and temperatures may reach 83 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Winds are expected to top out at a speed of only 9 mph." |
-20C this morning, -30C with windchill. It wasn't too bad, except that I haven't reapplied Catcrap (defogging agent) to my glasses and windscreen in a while. My breath instantly froze onto my lenses making it very difficult to see...
|
Catcrap? What is this Catcrap you speak of?

Beautiful morning. Sunny, 40sF. Supposed to cloud over and start raining this afternoon. 'course, they said that yesterday too.

Finally got to see how the narrower bars I put on my bike do in traffic. Passed between a truck and car that were moving and didn't have to worry about my bars bumping mirrors. Might've surprised the driver, but he was moving too slow for me and didn't have anyone in front of him so I got in front of him after I passed and dropped him. Cold out today, but I was toasty enough.

ooooh warmed up to -16C .... 3.2F :).
So you're liking your skinny bars? Good to hear. Thanks again for the NYC AlleyCat book. I am, I think, the only kid on my block, city, country with one.... |

I don't about being cooler than Anne Murray, Keanu's easy as I'm animated.
Lunch is on. |

And the wind wasn't bad on the way into work. It was nice to finally get the tailwind, I flew home. Today, however, different story. The wind stayed blowing and I couldn't find a good reason to ride southeast. Headwind and chilly, 20 (feels like 6) into the wind for over an hour. I felt like I was going nowhere. Rode gears cause the fixie would have been a little overgeared I think. |
fixed my dented wheel but it will eventually have to be replaced because it's going to drive me crazy that it's not perfect. rode to a meeting tonight over in Arlington. The temp was 9F with really strong winds when I left. But I felt pretty comfortable. weird thing happened on the way home though.
I'm stopped at this intersection and the light turns green. I start to go straight across and the first car on the other side turns left in front of me- no big deal I was ready for it, then I signal the next car I'm going straight and they wave me through, I stand on the pedals and push through fast and give the driver a wave of thanks but the truck behind him rolls down the window and says something like, "blah, blah, blah you stupid f***!" I just love the hostility. |
I seriously need to get my slicks back on.
A dually PU passed me so close I felt the pressure of the exhaust against my leg. I don't remember if I gave him the "give me more room gesture" or the middle finger. |
Slush-tastic. Salt-a-rific.

Twice as warm as yesterday...-14C and sunny.

Today was my first commute in 2 weeks. Perfect weather. Cagers were driving too close to me today for some reason.
I did see another sould on a road bike and gave chase for a while. I think he was playing with me as I never seemed to get any closer or lose distance to the guy, even when I was holding 20+ mph. Maybe it was a mirage:eek: Anyway, it felt so good to be out of the cage that I did an extra 2 miles in and hope to do an extra 6 or even 10 miles (depending on route I take) on the way home. |
Took the subway today cuz I didn't feel like dealing w/ the snow and the associated clean up. Cleaning my bike in the hallway of my apt. building got old really fast. What's normally a 10-15 minute commute by bike was a 30 min. commute by train due to delays. I ended up letting the first 5 trains go before I finally had enough room to wedge myself in on the 6th train. I miss my ride.

damp. Too drippy to be just heavy fog, but not quite to the level of steady drizzle. I wore my raincoat, which was like a 50/50 deal. I probably was as wet from sweat as I would have been from the precip, but it was all in the center of my back instead of all over my front.
Fresh out of the gate on MUP came face to face w/ toe-gazing cell-phone yakking ped who wouldn't walk a straight line. At least the phone wasn't a headset, she could hear me tell her I was coming. |

Having a heat wave. 25F when I left the house so I didn't even need tights. Probably well above freezing when I arrived at work.
Dirt trails are still a little soft with my 1.5" city tires, but no mud. No cager episodes...but they get another opportunity this afternoon! |
Might get a little rain on the way home so that nixed the idea of riding the Caldaro. So, on the trusty Trek again.
