Today, however, different story. The wind stayed blowing and I couldn't find a good reason to ride southeast. Headwind and chilly, 20 (feels like 6) into the wind for over an hour. I felt like I was going nowhere. Rode gears cause the fixie would have been a little overgeared I think.

fixed my dented wheel but it will eventually have to be replaced because it's going to drive me crazy that it's not perfect. rode to a meeting tonight over in Arlington. The temp was 9F with really strong winds when I left. But I felt pretty comfortable. weird thing happened on the way home though.
I'm stopped at this intersection and the light turns green. I start to go straight across and the first car on the other side turns left in front of me- no big deal I was ready for it, then I signal the next car I'm going straight and they wave me through, I stand on the pedals and push through fast and give the driver a wave of thanks but the truck behind him rolls down the window and says something like, "blah, blah, blah you stupid f***!" I just love the hostility.

I seriously need to get my slicks back on.
A dually PU passed me so close I felt the pressure of the exhaust against my leg. I don't remember if I gave him the "give me more room gesture" or the middle finger.

Today was my first commute in 2 weeks. Perfect weather. Cagers were driving too close to me today for some reason.
I did see another sould on a road bike and gave chase for a while. I think he was playing with me as I never seemed to get any closer or lose distance to the guy, even when I was holding 20+ mph. Maybe it was a mirage
Anyway, it felt so good to be out of the cage that I did an extra 2 miles in and hope to do an extra 6 or even 10 miles (depending on route I take) on the way home.

Took the subway today cuz I didn't feel like dealing w/ the snow and the associated clean up. Cleaning my bike in the hallway of my apt. building got old really fast. What's normally a 10-15 minute commute by bike was a 30 min. commute by train due to delays. I ended up letting the first 5 trains go before I finally had enough room to wedge myself in on the 6th train. I miss my ride.

GATC
damp. Too drippy to be just heavy fog, but not quite to the level of steady drizzle. I wore my raincoat, which was like a 50/50 deal. I probably was as wet from sweat as I would have been from the precip, but it was all in the center of my back instead of all over my front.
Fresh out of the gate on MUP came face to face w/ toe-gazing cell-phone yakking ped who wouldn't walk a straight line. At least the phone wasn't a headset, she could hear me tell her I was coming.

Having a heat wave. 25F when I left the house so I didn't even need tights. Probably well above freezing when I arrived at work.
Dirt trails are still a little soft with my 1.5" city tires, but no mud. No cager episodes...but they get another opportunity this afternoon!

Might get a little rain on the way home so that nixed the idea of riding the Caldaro. So, on the trusty Trek again.

Since I made some guy crash on my way to work, I think I will try to hone my evil telepathic skills on the way home and see if I can get some cute gal driver to stop, jump out of the car, get nekkid and do me like she stole me!

Took my first wipeout on the Brooklyn Bridge. Some lady walking in the bike lane side of the MUP, oblivious to the fast-approaching bell ringing behind her. For some reason decided against hitting the air zound, then slammed the front brakes with 2-day old brake-pads to avoid hitting her and went right over the handlebar, feet clipped in, bike following, in a vicious cycle that ended with my face having an intimate moment with the wood of the MUP.
Bent a bar-end out of shape (which seems to have taken most of the impact, thankfully) and had to completely open the rear brake to let the wabbly rear wheel spin unobstructed and rode on. Got to my destination real fast after that.

Steady rain. The birds were singing toward the end of the ride so I knew the rain was over. The return ride will probably be better.

Sublime. Feels like Spring here in Colorado after the longest 'winter' in recent memory. Think I'll take off early (like right now) and take the long way home.

No luck with using telepathy on the way home...guess I am just a mere mortal after all.

Freaking gorgeous. It was so nice I went for a ride at lunch. 78ish and clear, felt super strong and stayed on the big ring almost the whole way home. (Did 72 miles last Saturday and suffered big the last 10, but I think it made me a bit stronger).
Every day I ride to work I think "Damn, I'm so lucky to be able to do this" :-)

I feel like KRAP!!!
My lower back started hurting on the way in. My left leg felt tight because of my back around the hip. It made my peddling all lop-sided. I stretch a lot. Especially, my legs and back. Plus, I do tons of core training. This is all unusual.
I need drugs. And some time off.

Another windy ride this morning. I think every ride this week has had either a head wind or a crosswind no matter which direction I am going. Had a nasty headwind this morning which slowed me down and it didn't help that I was tired. It was actually colder than I thought, low 30s but the wind chill was in the low 20s. I am hoping the wind doesn't change directions again so I have a nice tailwind this afternoon, but I know that won't happen.
