nice shot!

That was my backdrop over The Charles River and the Boston skyline on the ride home. Loved it.

Fast. I had a 22 km/h tailwind. Very nice considering I put slicks on two days ago.My average speed went up 5 km/h. Cool ride in - I think it was 7 degrees? Soon it will be time for the long sleeved jersey or cycling tights.

Ride home was nice - 19 degrees, rode with a guy on a road bike part of the way. Only got 'oinched' by traffic once - Buses and panel vans are the worst!!

Great shot of the moon! It wasn't that big in NC. It was a gorgeous morning here with temps in the high 60s and the moon lighting the roads. Good thing because my red low-battery indicator lit up on my headlight about 2 miles into my 10-mile commute. I've been wondering how many commutes I could get on a single charge to my battery, and today I found out. Previously I had ridden 4 rides (about 3 hours) with no problems. Today was my 5th ride on a single charge. I left the light on and made it all the way to work without it going dead, so I ended up getting about 4 hours on a single charge. Not bad for a 5-year-old, $60 NiCAD Cygolite.

We've been mooned! Nice picture.

No commute yesterday. Drove wife's car in for maintenance. Thinking I should get a rack and ride from the dealership to work. Oh well.

Today was nice. A little bit damp, overcast, mid 60s, and a light tailwind. I saw only one other cyclist, a "trail regular". Passed her with a bell ring and a g'morning.

Nice ride today. Took shortest possible route after dropping Thing 2, total length turned out to be about the same as the scenic route after dropping Thing 1. But, of course, much less scenic. 2 miles less than scenic version of this morning's errand. I am wondering if I should have worn long sleeves, they're talking rain later. Well, I'll get a chance to do it again in the rain soon.

Felt tired and lazy again this morning, and thought about driving instead of biking. Read an article in the morning paper about some local North Carolinians who just rode Paris-Brest-Paris. When I got to the part where one guy was saying he was falling asleep while riding I decided not to be wuss today.

Nice ride today, cool, clear and no wind. Started just before sunrise, so I had lights running. Moon was a bit higher here, so not quite as spectacular as the excellent pic.

Had a little excitement when a couple of emergency vehicles went by while I was threading my way through stopped traffic at an intersection. With all lanes stopped and enjoying the gridlock, it's not exactly obvious how to clear a path for them.

Some one tossed a picture frame on my route, guess they figured a little more glass wouldn't hurt. With the sun low, it really picks up the glass bits. The wonder is that I don't have more flats then I do.

Nice moon!

I passed 2500 miles last night (2500.5 when I got in my door ) - not all commuting miles, but a gross portion are - very impressed with myself for that (for the metric folks, that's a tad over 4000km I think)

Ride this morning was uneventful barring a cabbie pulling a U-turn directly in front of me and another guy, he had his drivers window open and no doubt heard my "WTF!" so I rolled up to him at the next lights and just said "you could've waited 2 seconds man, come on" all he gave was a meek looking face and a "yeah, sorry".

Great ride nonetheless.

Yesterday on the way home i was buzzed, and of course at the next light i found myself next to the JAM.
Since he had his window open i asked him "Is there any particular reason you are trying to run me off the road?"
He then proceeded to cuss me out, but i had the last laugh as i filtered past him and he got stuck behind in traffic. A fellow commuter behind me pulled up to me and said that the guy had come within about 3 inches of hitting me. He does this only to race to the next light....

I really need to get my light built. It was verging on dark this morning. Hopefully all the crap I ordered for the lights will be here by the time I get back from vacation.

I don't know whether it is the cooler weather or what but I have felt great riding all week. I have felt like a 20 year old again on the bike. Legs are not tired at all.

Rode to work today after a week off the saddle...Felt very stiff and weak this morning...Pushed myself in the ride back home from work and felt stronger...Thinking about converting my Motobecane commuter to singlespeed but not sure yet...Have a couple hills in my area...

Ride in was fast and quiet. Burned out one of my headlight bulbs. Redundant lighting is a good thing. I took a detour on the way home to listen to my eldest play the sousaphone at the high school marching band practice. Avoided getting right hooked after being passed from behind. I got that skid stop down now.

Full moon, cool breeze, very light traffic and I set my personal best on the way to work this morning.
15.91mph. That's 6.1 miles in 23 minutes. Normally I am around 24-25 minutes.

Very nice morning.

This week was my first 5-bagger ... I bike commuted every day. Usually I drive at least one day because of meetings or to restock clothes and supplies. This week I brought a few clothes with me each day in my seat bag, and brought some dirty laundry home a few days. That makes a big difference. The weather was also gorgeous all week with mornings in the 60s and afternoons in the 80s. Doesn't get much better than that. I'm gonna take a day off riding tomorrow and join my friends for a long group ride on Sunday.

Wasn't planning on riding in today as I'm going to be riding cycle NC next week and should probably be resting my legs.... I woke up at the usual time though and figured what the heck? It was/will be nearly ideal conditions for me today, Beautiful nearly full moon, cool and not too humid, no winds on the way in. Heading home with a 10-20mph tailwind bringing in cooler, less humid air and pushing me home.

Yesterday on the way home, I misjudged my dismount at a stop and straddled the top tube. Let's just say "It was a bad one."

This morning, I had a valve stem shoot off my front tube. Thankfully I was stopped at the time. I heard a pop like a champagne cork and saw something hit the pavement about a foot in front my foot. That looks like a valve stem I thought. Then the light changed and I started to pedal and my front tire was flat! DOH!

Later I met up with a heavily tatooed 20-something dude wearing knicker length blue jeans and white tank top, waiting out the traffic light by trackstanding on his fixie! I bowed before him.

This morning i tried going down a closed road. It was all dug up and rough so i pretended i was doing alittle cyclocross. Got some pretty weird looks from the constuction workers but no one said anything.

i usually bike at 6:20, today i biked at 7:35 omg what a difference. i almost died a bunch of times, got buzzed a million times, i flew countless birds and asks several drivers to get out of their cars. i will never, and i mean EVER, leave the house after 6:30, i'll just take the day off. if this was my first commute ever i'd throw my bike in the trash and buy a hummer.

Peasoup-level foggy morning. I prefer rain. I had to stop every mile or so and clear my glasses. Lots of traffic, but no problems.

Weird. The morning itself was actually lovely, clear and cool - and I even got ready just a hair early. Good thing, because I tightened my pann down too tight and bent the cheesy little bottom hook. Got that mooshed back together and got going. 5 Minutes down the road my NiMH headlight battery goes to autodim, indicating low juice, so I pull over and hook up the spare.

After that, I just felt kind of slow and weak, got out of breath on the climb into town. At one point, I actually thought, "Jeeze, am I still on the trail? Feels like I've been here forever..."

I'm chalking it up to an "off-day" and a weak dinner last night. We'll see what the ride home brings.

First time not commuting by bike today since early September. It was WIERD. I had a special group ride to do last night and had to bring a bunch of BBQ stuff to work today - we're gonna have a picnic at the park today, play some sports and go home early! And yes, I'll top it off with a rare early afternoon commute. I can't wait! L8R!!
