I had a great ride home today. I got my first hottie to give me a stare down along with a sweet smile as she walked in the crosswalk at a red light. I of course, returned the favor and said "Hello". I also got offered a beer along the bayou from two guys that were throwing a fishing net for bait. I turned it down as I had to get home. Lastly, people on the trail today were just in a good mood, I got several waves and "hellos". Must be the upcoming holiday, happy 4th everyone!

It was a lovely commute into the country on a warm summer day. :)

I rode the long version home instead of my new 14 miler. So 28miles put putting around enjoying the almost 90 f temps. I love heat. Now if it would get back to the mid 90s again.
No riding tomorrow. Going to a bbq with my kid and then taking him to his first fireworks show. We usually watch it from the front of the house. Our city's display is about a mile away.

Ride in was nice and slow. Fairly unremarkable.

The ride home was interesting. I spent the first part blowing off steam since I had such a bad night. I would occasionally burst out with "are you kidding me?" or "WTF!" at my own thoughts. I barely remember the ride (other than looking at Lakeside amusement park and thinking "that would be a great view if I wasn't so @#$@#&* angry") until I made it fairly close to my place.

Then for whatever reason, maybe I was just over it, I noticed that it was nice out. Then I noticed the sky was a cool color. Then I watched some pigeons fly by and was enthralled by how *weird* it looks when birds float by at eye level. I was back in my zen bubble.... just in time to get home and go to sleep.

Nice/Unremarkable ride in. It was a cool 62F which was nice and only 63% humidity.
My ride took my 30 minutes opposed to the 25 minutes I've managed to hit... I'm gonna start pushing myself to make it faster. After I add in the 10 minutes of sink-showering and changing, it seems my brother (who left the same time as me) managed to beat me to his office desk by 5 minutes.

The ride in was slow this morning, i just wasn't into it. I don't think i can even blame the headwind. The morning commute is sometimes like that the afternoon commute usually rocks. Hopefully the wind stays in the same direction :p

Nice sunset and my wife "picked" me up at work with beer. Nice ride home chatting, and now having my first beer in a couple of months.

Oh wow... a perfect storm of conditions lead to the highest average speed commute ever. I drafted behind a semi coming out of Nisku, hit a max speed of 57kph following him. Hwy2 North seems to be fast no matter what, must be slightly downhill. I averaged about 45kph heading north on hwy2. Then there was a tail wind from the West for my east jaunt into Millwoods. Overall: 20.06km in 32:50. Average speed of 36.66kph.

The only downside is i doubt i will beat this time.

Dude that's weird, maybe it's best you just kept rolling. There are some questions that shouldn't be answered, this may well be one.

causal observer of commuting forum, and just started commuting a few days ago on my road bike, did 21 miles today. 8 for work and the rest riding around town. got a flat tire, and spent about 20 minutes struggling to get tire seated onto neuvation wheel, i swear my hands never hurt so bad, definitely switching back to my open pros.

Fridays ride for July 4th in the morning was rather uneventful, took some back roads with my brother just cruising along, get to Monterey in good time. Enjoyed the beach and it's weather, watched the fireworks that night and then things changed like you would not believe. On the way home at least five or six people felt it necessary to honk the horn as we were driving. And at least two of these individuals made some kind of comments. Just figured they must not be liking two people on bike not paying the four dollar plus gas. Who knows, or it was just because it was 4th of July, I don't know But I will put that in the book as one of the worst commutes, the nice thing it is guaranteed to only get better from here.

It was a quick ride in this morning, partly due to upping my tire pressure and partly due to the fact that I was running late (again). I skipped my usual rest break at the park between home and work.

I've been noticing some really cool birds hanging out on the MUP in the mornings. There are robins and sparrows, and a couple little snack-size birds that I can't identify. I wish I could just take a picture of these cool little birds, paste it in a search engine, and get back the name of the birds and some info about them. My brain is ahead of technology, I guess....

I'm really looking forward to the ride home tonight. It's been a stressful day. I need a little while alone with nature.

The ride in was great, about 62*, few cars.
The ride home was good enough, because I was feeling good. Had work wore me out and/or made me slightly ticked, I may not have been able to deal with the morons on the road today. I got 3 honks...and I usually get NONE. It must be the holiday weekend people. The first was from some one trying to make a left into my leg, they got an F-you. The second was someone who couldn't wait the extra seconds to make their right turn into the Burger King...they got nothing. I'm thinking the last one was not directed at me, but it was near me, so I'll blame them anyways. Beautiful day, no clouds. I think I'm going to go back out now, and just ride around for fun. 15 miles today, hot as hell at 95 degrees. noticed that the male stabilizer strap clip on my timbuk2 bag is broken, need to get that replaced.

I can honestly say that my ride home was the best commute ever. It was warm but cloudy, just barely drizzling, no sun to burn me and no cold to piss me off. The absence of bright sun made me able to really look around and see how the path looks in diffuse light. The greens were richer, the browns were deeper, and just looking at the creek refreshed me.

I would have rather had a tailwind than a headwind, but even that was okay! Sometimes a little burning in the legs feels good.

I wish I would have never gotten home.

commute in was a chore this time. Mess bag loaded with food, clothes, tools, etc. Bag was about 30 pounds...I know, I should be putting my panniers back on the fixed. Guess I'll be doing that on my days off.

Looking forward to the ride home. Sunday mornings are usually quiet...

I drove today. I have to drive across town to visit a relative in the hospital after work. :(

Okay, you know that look that cats get on their faces when they see a squirrel outside? Muscles tensed up, trying to figure out how to get to the other side of the glass, that pure unadulterated want? That was the look on my face for the whole drive to work. The weather is absolutely beautiful, and I want to ride!

The weather was great, not too bright out before bedtime, took it slow, etc. It felt good to work out, I was hoping it would help more than it did...

It's been a long week. My entire body is sore. I don't know what the final straw was to make me feel like I've just been run over by a truck today, whether it was my long rides this weekend, being busy at work, sleeping on the floor (I'm between beds right now), or the physical manifestation of stress, but this is not cool.

It was wet. It was raining, small drips but still (now it's really raining outside, and I'm glad to be in my office.)

And of 'course I was stressed and forgot to bring extra dry clothing. I hope this weather will be better when I'm about to go home.

I also brought my camera, but forgot batterys, otherwise I would have shown you photos.

It was foggy and cold this morning but I loved the ride anyway. I was feeling very energetic and the entire ride was a breeze. I think the cold helped with that. I however ran into a few people walking, including a group of 3 women. I must say it's never crossed my mind to ask my friends to go out fo a walk at 6 in the morning! *clutches her duvet*

Fastest ride to date. due to a few technical problems, a storm and a short week last week my legs were very fresh. Did not really push it. Cloudy and had to use my front light for the first time in a long time. Very nice ride.

well, Thursday's ride home was nice, as my commute buddy and I stopped to have a 'tasty beverage' on the way home. Place called Ted's Montana Grill, owned by Ted Turner, of course. Their food is really good and fresh-no freezers on premises and everything is cooked fresh that day. Good stuff. Took rest of ride slow and it was nice.

This morning wasn't bad-it is really humid here today, and will be for next couple of days. Was tough trying to keep cool. Almost made a personal best time without really trying! Taking the weekend off was good, as my legs feel a lot better. This will be the first full 5 day commute week for me in a while, so I will need the energy.

Nice ride this morning. Temps in the 60sF, sunny, light headwind. I caught a woman on an MTB early, passed her, and caught up to a guy on a hybrid soon after. He was cruising along at a modest 14-16MPH so I decided not to pass him, and just enjoy riding at a relaxed pace. Then we both caught another woman on an MTB and passed her.

One cyclist going the other way said, "Hi Jim!", as we passed. By the time my brain registered the greeting and who it was, it was too late to say hi back, so I emailed him when I got to work. :D

Damp ride today. Temp around 70 degrees, but 90% humidity. Still, pushed it a bit so it was a faster than normal ride. Took a while to cool down to shower.

Nothing too special about the ride. Did have a fairly typical problem with a motorist. The arterial I ride switches from 5 lanes to 7 very narrow lanes as I approach my office. I typically move just a little left to make it even more obvious that a car can't share the lane with me. Every now and then one of those people who are mentally unable to change lanes will end up behind me - and then still be behind me as I need to move left across lanes to make the turn into my office. It's just a hassle.

The annoying part is that many of these people pull up behind me at the previous light. If you're in a car on a six lane road, why would you pull up behind a bicycle (instead of changing lanes) that you won't be able to get by? I guess I've already said it... they're mentally incapable of changing lanes.

felt nice to bike in with new shorts, i have been biking in knickers for the most part but it was really refreshing to let the legs feel the breeze more, it took my a bit to cool down after my shower but i am now finally feeling cool

did a long ride on the 4th with my lady which was really great, our destination was the beach and then we decided to bike a bit more to find some lunch...good times, decided to do this all on my singlespeed

I almost rode over something bright blue and fluffy. Just after my front wheel narrowly missed it, I realized it was a bird. I turned around and stopped and it was a parakeet, obviously in shock at having gained its freedom. After a few attempts to have it climb onto a stick, I finally just picked it up with my hands and placed it on a branch. I called animal control when I got to the office and they said they would send someone out to get it -- I hope they got it. The little guy/gal tried to climb up my arm. I wish I had just stuck it in my pannier and brought it to the office but that didn't occur to me until I got to the office.

Loverly. Mid 70s, breezy and low traffic. Chased by the same dog who always chases me. He's such a badass. ;)
