It was warm this morning, so I didn't have to worry about low temperature gear. I had the wind at my back for awhile and cruised at high speeds. But what I didn't notice was what that nice tailwind was bringing!!! I made a right turn and started riding crosswind, and just happened to look over and see a tremendous rain storm being blown in. I didn't have my book bag covered or anything. So I started pedalling like a freak. But I was still a good 20 minutes out of town! the wind let up for awhile, which delayed the rain, thankfully. It all ended in a wild sprint for the school and reaching it just in time. There was a loud clap of thunder and then heavy downpour. It was a pretty cool ride this morning!

We had those storms last night, fubar. Glad I didn't have to be out riding in them!! Nice ride in this morning, warm headwind +12 C, 54 F, light occasional shower - no jacket required!! Weather is supposed to be back to normal for the rest of the week. Nice while it lasted!!

Well, it was a commute in that I would otherwise have taken a car, but yesterday's ride was not to/from work. Instead, I got about an hour's ride in on the way to San Fran before being picked up by my family. (Any excuse to ride.)

This was the first ride since my week-long forced downtime. My left knee still bothered me but it was great to get on the bike anyway. My legs felt wonderfully refreshed (other than my knee). It started raining a little, too. First rain since May, so it was kinda fun.

I'm going to skip a few more days. See ya when I resume.

Saturday was so foggy I didn't dare to ride. I regretted it later, when the fog cleared up into a beautiful, warm day.

So I was determined to commute Sunday, and headed out at 5am, with a Walmart Bell headlight backing up my faulty LED Cateye. It was a nice ride on wet roads (no traffic that early, either), and the fog wasn't too bad. It didn't clear up into a nice day, though, it started raingin, and the clouds never went away. Rode home into a headwind. Still, it was fairly warm.

I partied too hard over the weekend, and woke up late this morning. I had to drive to get to work in time for my meeting w/ the CEO, and its a beatiful day too. I'll have to catch up tomorrow.

Winds were still out of the south, which helped the temps hit 65 F. Unfortunately this meant for stiff head winds for the ride home. I was way over dressed so sweat out a lot of water on the ride home. Looking forward to slightly cooler temps tomorrow...with only mid to upper 50's predicted.

Ouch !

Todays commute into work was damp but uneventful, the commute home was a battle through torrential rain and a strong headwind, what with the weather and it being 11pm it was very quiet and I had a strange feeling of loneliness all the way home.

It just didn't feel right on the way home tonight

Due to Christmas shopping, I was not able to commute by bike, but I will be back on the bike tomorow. I need to find a new route though, i'm getting bored with my route.

On the way home I needed to get in at least an hour and a half to meet my daily training requirements. So I took a longer way than usual. But I didn't realize HOW far it was. I got home around 6:15 and it was pretty dark. I had my lights though!

Awoke to the sound of heavy rain on the window, fortunately it eased off by the time I got out the door. Lots of leaves mulching down to make things nice anf slippy.

Despite all this the miles just seemed to flash by without too much effort

Good morning,

I know how you feel, Hants Commuter, although here the rain held off until about 5 min into my 1/2 hour ride. Then the sky turned black and it pooooouuuured. There were some huge, unavoidable puddles against which waterproof boots covers were no defence at all. .... And then I noticed that the front wheel bearing of the bike was complaining bitterly "crack, clunk, tick, clunk......"

Nice day, Nice ride, I wore shorts and a light wind jacket. Traffic was light, the temp. was warm with a small amount of ***. A great morning to be on a bike.

O where O where is New England's winter? 47F when I left the house this AM and now at 52F. Very little wind and looks like a wet ride home. I forgot my darn rain pants. Ah well...

Ugh! I drove today due to the rain in Annapolis. I'm afraid of slipping on the drawbridge to downtown in rain. Unfortunately, I would have been better off riding or even walking!

The rumor around here is that Good Morning America was broadcasting from downtown Annapolis. This caused hideous traffic snarls. My usual 10 minute commute (bike or car) turned into at least 30 minutes. This is for 2.5 miles.

When I saw traffic backed up to the shopping center behind my apartment complex, I should have turned around and gotten my bike. I just hope the craziness is gone from downtown this evening!

I have no idea how long the bridge is, but I would walk your bike across the bidge if that is the only reason for not riding in bad weather.

The temperature was a fairly balmy 55.9 F (13.3) C here in Washington, DC. It was warm enough that I seriously considered carrying, rather than wearing my raingear. I chose to wear it. This was a good move (for once), because the rain began in a few minutes. It has continued all morning, fairly heavily at times.

I'll be taking a cab to my client's office in an hour or so. It is amazing what a weather wimp I am from the time I take my raingear off at my office to the time I put it back on for the commute home.

Killer ride this morning. Powered up the hills, kept my HR up, and got my average speed up by 2mph for the ride, resulting in beating my old best time by two minutes.

Hopefully tonight will be just as energetic.

Good morning everyone, My ride to work this morning, Let's see, Dark, very dark, wet, very wet, steady hard rain all the way, piles of wet leaves filled the sides of the road, bright street lights reflected on the rain drops on my glasses preventing me from seeing where I needed to go. Heavy traffic with many trucks bellowing diesel smoke and fighting me for the 1/4" of roadway that I need, loud train whistles blowing just over my right shoulder, all while I push a 5 mile an hour biting head wind for the 18.5 mile commute. Most of what I carry was wet when I arrived to work accept for my work clothes and lunch which I carry in a plasstic bag that I put in my panniers. My office is like a laundry matt with things hanging to dry for the ride home. At a stop sign a man in a car asked me, "Are you crazy buddy"? I responded, No, but it's ok if you think I am, It's quite obvious that I know something you don't.

Why do I ride? Because I want to, that's why.

It was a very wet ride home last night. The worst part was the one busy intersection I pass through. Traffic was backed way up and many of the cars were blocking the bike lane. I was forced to sit through 3 complete light changes before I was able to get to the front of the line. Not what I wanted to do on a very rainy night.

This morning's weather was similar to last night. Sun tomorrow?

Comiserarions Richard D. Luckily for me, there was a rare dry day in Oxfordshire, but I know how you feel. I was not really on top form this morning, and felt very slow. Maybe I'll have a better run on the way home. I did get my wheel bearing repaired last evening, so no more nasty sounds. Only another 4 months before they self destruct again!

Sunny morning, traffic was light, Shifter acting up but that was not enought to counter act the previous two positives. It was a beautiful ride in. Hope the ride home is as nice.

Nice ride, too much roadkill though. Skunk, Squirrel, Field Mouse, Pet dog, and by the lake lots of smelly fish that I think bit the bullet in the last storm.

So for today anyways, I didn't like the fall smells.

No rain this morning, for a change, so I got to ride in without raingear. With a temperature of48.9 F (9.4 C), my normal office clothing provided just the right level of insulation and gave a wonderful feeling of freedom. Lots of leaves, everywhere...the whole Fall experience. This is a great time of the year to ride.
