Dark in the morning, but I like watching the sunrise on the lake as I ride along it. Beat my personal best today, thanks to a tailwind.

Nice ride today; around 59F. Sunny skies and the trees are really pretty now. On my way home on Friday, a man kept looking at my bike in the elevator and then asked why I didn't use the bike rack in the garage. I told him I didn't think it was safe to leave my bike there. He then introduced himself as the building manager so I was a little on guard (thinking he was going to tell me bikes weren't allowed in the elevator) but he said he was considering installing an enclosed locked bike storage area in the garage and I told him that would be great! I really don't have room for my bike in my office so that is welcome news.

Rainy ride today, I hate rain. Would rather have snow but it's all good.

Usually on swim lesson nights I bike my 3 yr old in trailer from daycare to the Y and 7 yr old takes the bus w/ friends. He'll take the bus home and I'll trailer her up the hill home w/ the rest of my pannier paraphernalia yadda yadda... Last night, my wife had the car and drove him from school to her daycare and then both of them to the Y. When we left at the end, I got to throw my panniers in her car for a nice zippy ride home.

Also, I got soaked riding to the Y from work in what started as mist and ended as downpour. I put my sopping smartwool shirt in the bathing suit centrifugal dryer and spun out a *lot* of water so it was much lighter when I put it back on. So that was another bonus of sorts.

On the other hand, because he got a ride straight from school to the Y, 7 yr old's bike spent the night there so he rode his scooter in this morning and he finally appreciated the difference between biking and scooting uphill. I took the scooter home for him and he should be biking home tonight.

A rather uneventful ride this morning. I did pass someone riding on E. Railroad. He looked behind him, but I don't know if he saw me (or rather, how he could have missed me ), but when I passed him (giving him a good 3 feet), he was startled and nearly ran off the road. I also saw another bike commuter heading the opposite way on First Street (which runs parallel to W. Railroad). She looks like she works at either the hospital or at least one of the local doctor's offices.

I commuted this weekend here in Denver. Let me tell you I have forgotten what it fells like to be wet and cold. After working 12 hrs, that ride was should have been horrible. I love it. I could tell though it was kicking my butt. I stopped once because i thought I had a flat but nope just cold, wet, and tired. Anyone else ride in Denver this weekend.

cut off

Twice on the ride home, cars seemed to be trying to scare me by coming too close. Narrow shoulder, but still they came over the shoulder line on the road, right in front of me and the second car almost clipped my front wheel and I saw the driver looking up into the rear view mirror as he went on.

Interesting that both cars were BMWs.

No appointments until 4 today (I teach at night) so I took the long way (20 mi) to work, skipping the subway and going through Griffith Park. It was 86* F when I passed a bank in SilverLake--gotta love those SoCal autumn temps but I sure miss the autumn leaves.

I had a slow trip home today. I ate two hours before leaving, and I was still drained.

The ride was okay. I had a group of four teenagers want to see my bike. I was tired, so I pulled over, and let them look at it. They thought it was very cool.

Great commute today. My fenders didn't cause any problems or my new tires. Decided to put my camelback on my new rack for the ride home. It was different but I think I liked it. I felt much more comfortable holding the drop down bars with out all that weight on my back. It was hard to get my but going because it's getting colder and I had four days off. That is the longest I have went with out riding since I started commuting. Half way through the ride to work I was warm and forgot about my cold hands.

The moon was big and guided me!

A funeral procession passed by me today on the way to work. The weather was mild. I got to my destination in about a half hour. For the ride home tonight I whipped out the balaclava. I came upon a "ninja cyclist" pusing his bke up a hill. I was breezing down it and turned my Vega headlight over toward his way. Just helping a fella out!

rolled in on the bike path this morning- the Charles Regatta is on the way this weekend so quite a bit of tents and stuff going on there. It would be nice if the workers and the boaters would be kind enough to keep the bike path clear. Always feels a little dangerous.

The ride home was sweet. Rode home in the dark. Had the whole path to myself the whole way home.

It hasn't even rained on a work day here yet. I'm spoiled. It's kind of weird but I'm a little excited about the rain. I want to try out my new fenders.

I have to tell you how lucky I am. My 8 mile work commute is about 95% on the bike trail. I see wild turkeys, burrowing owls and cross over a bridge with a beautiful river underneath.

Mediocre ride in this morning. Nice temps but little energy. I think my noisey rr. hub was a big distraction too. It's a new Shimano XT but I've had nothing but problems w/ it. It creaks and clicks mercilessly and will be re-built (again) soon. If it's still a problem, I'll return it and get a Chris King.

Still dark when I leave out in the mornings. Peaceful and quiet. I've been riding my old Gary Fisher mtb lately and I packed my raincoat incase it rains. When I'm almost at work, I pull into the corner doughnut shop for my sausage croissant .

A "toasty" 38 degrees this morning, fortunately no wind and a nice big moon. Just wore my jersey and a wind breaker, was nice and toasty after the first mile. The "winter" bike is turning out to be a pleasant surprise, despite it being a MTB I'm making really good time with it.
