Reflective tape for soft goods?
I have a backpack that I want to make a bit more visible. Also adding it to a couple of my jackets- one is nylon and the other is cotton (both were free).
Since reflective tape probably has about as many different grades of quality that bike components do, I'm not quite sure what are legit claims and just marketing hype.

You want SOLAS in the "handles like duct tape" variety for direct stick-on application to fabric. Here's some: https://www.landfallnavigation.com/-spfdt.html

I don't know how big you are and your pack,
but I used to wear a reflective vest over my
knapsack while it was on my back. So the
bag would go on 1st, then the vest would
go on top of me and the knapsack.

I personally haven't used this particular product on my clothing, but I use their reflectors on my spokes.

Lightweights for Clothing

Right now, I'm flat broke... I have to do things on the cheap. For my backpack I've took one of those free ("I Share The Road") reflective pant leg staps I got at some event* and modified it for my backpack.
I removed the velcro, then cut the thing in half. I folded over a section to form a loop, then instead of sewing the thing, I superglued it. Next I took a free keychain split-ring from some promotion, and attached the webbing to the backpack. I can remove it if I want to (but I don't), and it looks great. (no photos yet).
If I had more of those straps, I'd sew (or use fabric cement) to attach it to the shoulder straps of my backpack too.
* they're those nylon webbing (with velcro) straps intended to keep your pant leg out of your outer chain ring
