The weather is hot and super humid. My rear brake is out of alignment and was dragging the entire way to work. I'll adjust it so that it isn't before riding home. It's going to be a slow ride home after a crap day like today...I'm beat.

My fenders have been getting a workout lately as it has rained nearly every day for the past month. I now feel like I know what it's like to live in Seattle, and I don't like it! Fortunately the showers that we had the last two days passed through about 3 pm with the rain pretty much over by the time I left work, although the roads were still very wet. The humidity is incredible with all the rain we've been having but at least the temperatures have been mild. My new commuter bike has been sitting in the garage rarely getting ridden because it still lacks fenders, so I've been riding one of my old standbys.

I got clobbered by a massive rain strom on the way home yesterday.
Nice cool ride in this morning though.

Second commute of all time was uneventful. Great weather, sunny skies. I need to take the straight lane sooner; someone passed me and then turned right. I didn't have to brake, so not exactly a right hook, but I can see it happening in the future.
I also need stronger legs, but I imagine we could all say that. 7 miles in 40 minutes.

**** day, **** week, **** commute home.
I should have driven, and I should have driven with chainsaws on my car for pedestrians and cyclists, and machine guns on my car for drivers.
No seriously Mr. pedestrian I DO LOVE it when you pop off of the empty sidewalk to walk in the street with out looking and taking up the gap between the guardrail and the traffic.
Why yes, gape mouthed mother on a mamachari, please do change your pace in the crosswalk in order to collide with me.
Thank you oh so very much fellow American Service member for seeing just how closely you could get to hitting me while the rest of the street is clear.
The rear brake of my bike now only rubs, but rubs hard when I'm pedaling up hill, the headset flops all the hell over the place, everything squeaks and creaks all the time, and the tires don't hold air when I park my bike outside.

The commute this morning was nice, but it took me 30 minutes to complete the ~5 mile commute! I do have to ride on the sidewalk across the bridge, as the cars travel over 55mph over the bridge. That's not -really- a problem, since people don't walk across the bridge; only cyclists use the sidewalk, but there are some parts of the sidewalk that are just really rough on my bike! So, when I enter the bridge, I walk my bike across the roughest parts (where getting onto the bridge is like hopping onto a short curb), but that takes too much time...oh well!
Yesterday, I had 10 minutes to get to the other side of campus, and when I was stopped at an intersection to turn right, and I found one opportunity to do so, a pedestrian (who wasn't paying attention to anything but her cell phone) started crossing the street...I was almost late because of that! Also, around the quad, they have changed the bike lanes on the service only roads so that both directions of the bike lane are together and on one side of the road. The problem is that these cross paths with bus stops (so people stand in the lanes), maintenance workers park their vehicles in the lanes, and people just straight up walk down the road in the bike lane, and are confused when someone tells them to walk on the sidewalk! The joys of a college campus?

I road my road bike today and I forgot to bring a change of shoes so I have to wear my cleats today. I feel like i am walking on sunshine!! Well, if sunshine was a hard plastic shoe that keeps my toes two inches higher than my heels.

Rare AM bridge opening today, other than that a nice ride in. Also beat my personal best time on the ride home yesterday. Not that I'm keeping track

I did that last week. It probably wasn't too smart because it was to see a Cardiologist and the first thing they did was check blood pressure. Of course it was a little higher than normal.

So, the forecasted high today was 85F. It's currently 94F. Tonight's ride home is going to be a sweaty one.

We seem to be getting an early fall, already. Temps in the lower/mid 50s this morning, I had to put on the longjohns to keep my legs warm. Not quite cold enough for the cold weather gloves, but I wore long sleeves and tights. Other than that, it was pretty nice, and surprisingly light traffic (I only have to make one left hand turn across traffic on my commute, otherwise it's a straight shot uphill with a 7 lane road and decent bike lanes).

The morning ride in was bloody cold. And then after work, I took a 45 mile jaunt into my old town... it was pretty good relief from a stressful day at work.

Definitely a hint of fall in the air this week... it's been nice though not being completely soaked in sweat when I arrive at work.
Both yesterday and today there were massive traffic jams that I got to fly past and laugh at.

Temperatures in Houston have plunged into the 90s but the humidity remains steady. This afternoon while riding through downtown, some jerks were hassling cyclists and got behind me and started honking and yelling to get on the sidewalk. Actually, it is illegal to ride on the sidewalk in a business district here and the street was clearly marked with bicycle signs. There are always lots of cyclists downtown. I have this fantasy of getting them all together to confront these miscreants.

A very nice ride in this morning. I was not sure if I would ride due to being out last night and not being prepared. I decided it is better to ride tired than drive, cause in the end I will enjoy the riding. Anyway it was a nice 61f this am. An uneventful ride in.

Another beautiful day at 67f (19c). The traffic was racing a little too much today for my comfort, but they stayed away.

Working just a half-day today but still got my commute in. Topped 3,500 miles commuting YTD and 6,000 total cycling miles today, and I'm just 10 miles short of 20,000 miles commuting since I started in 2007. That milestone will have to wait until Monday as I don't have time to extend my ride this afternoon. Heading up to the mountains with some friends this afternoon for a couple of days riding along the New River Trail.

More uneventful commuting. My colleague reports a fall from last Wednesday, so we bandaged up her shoulder with an ice pack.

Didn't ride today because I had a dentist appointment. Except when I got to the office, they told me my appointment had been cancelled. *sigh*
Oh well, I guess a day off is good for my legs. It would have been my third commute.
