What an awesome ride to work this morning!! Absolutely beautiful weather, little warmer than the last 2 days. Supposed to be in the low 80's this afternoon and low humidity!
Now that's what I'm talking about!!! :D |
big tail wind this morning, the ride home will be hard.
|
+7C, wore shorts but probably should have put something on my legs. Also should have wore my full finger gloves as my hands were getting a bit numb towards the end of the ride.
The MUP extension near the start of my route is well under way and should be done well ahead of the snow. |
Temps were hovering right around 50F this morning. Chilly enough for the light tights, long sleeves, and light gloves. The coolest part was the dense fog just as I got to the top of the hill heading into work. I love fog when it's not so think that you can't see 100 yards. It was just light enough to give that neat effect of drifting around, but visibility was never less than about 1/4 mile. I don't like that I'll have to carry all my cold weather gear home now, but it's supposed to be mid 60s this afternoon, so I'm definitely taking the long way (~14 miles). :D

Cool at 5C, clear, and calm. My all-weather commuter bike hasn't seen much use recently because of all the beautiful, dry weather we've been having, and I'd rather take my 30-year-old road bike when it's nice. Today though, I rode the commuter even though I didn't have to. It was a nice change.

All kinds are coming out in the nice weather around here. Yesterday a racer type flew past me at +4 or +5 mph. I didn't give chase because I was already chasing a rabbit
|
I left the office at 1:00 today to tend to some other matters. The commute home at that time felt really weird; the traffic was different (more trucks, fewer cars), the cyclists were all people I had never seen before, and everything just felt 'funny'. Nice weather though.

Just getting back to riding. Remodeled the house over the summer and was all the time chasing stuff on the way home.
Monday was Chilly in the morning Awesome in the afternoon. Picked up some leg warmers after work. Tuesday was still chilly for the ride in but the leg warmers made a huge improvement. Jackhole from Hallelujah heating and air at 770 516 Cool at 795 Noonday Rd Marietta GA 30066 decided it would be cute to buzz me and then Roll Coal on me before cutting off another driver. Feel free to leave bad reviews the company for how rude they are on the Internet everywhere you can. Its a owner operator business. Getting ready for work today and hear about this poor guy getting hit and run on and left for dead in the street just down from the entrance of my neighborhood. They were just clearing the scene and loading up his bike when I rolled through. :( better story http://northeastcobb.patch.com/artic...car-in-ne-cobb Video. http://www.11alive.com/news/article/...ar-in-Marietta Ride home was nice today. |
It was one of those days when I am glad the ride home is almost all downhill. :D

Thought I checked weather for today. Uncomfortably gross with humidity this morning.
it is 3:46 am and really gross and opposite of my recently cool sometimes had wished I were wearing gloves weather! Feel weak but still made good time from Princeton to West Windsor. Sweating in my helmet and hearing tons of crickets or other chirpy lifeforms. this is my first year having worn cycling exercise specific clothing and now that fall is coming I dont own cool weathet clothes but humidity is definetly augmented by the jeans I am wearing and button up dhirt and hoodie. yuck all the way. kind of robs me of my desire when gear is unappropriate. |
Warm this morning with cloudy skies at 67f (19c). A nice ride in, although flashes in the distance gave me incentive to ride faster this morning. I miss the chilly clear skies, but I like the warm weather.
|
It was a warm 56f with a little humidity when I rode through town this am. The road was wet from rain last night. It was a nice peaceful ride in today.
|
Cool again this morning, 3C, but dry and, better yet, lights going for me all the way (only 4 but who's counting). Wore a light-weight balaclava for the first time: seemed insufficient at first but within 10 minutes, I was fine. My toes were cold by the end of the ride so I'll have to get out my wool socks.
I find that at this time of year, I'm packing twice for commuting: one set of clothes for the cold (or wet or both) mornings and another set for the (so far) sunny, moderate (13C-18C) afternoons. Not much I can do about that. |
A hint of chill in the air this morning, just enough to wear warmers.
Low humidity (lower than usual anyway..) Yet another awesome commute to work. I did notice this morning that the trees are beginning to show the first tinges of fall. Sorry to hear about the misfortunes on your side of town Grim. BTW, we have a lawn care company on this side of town called Magnolia Lawn. They have nothing but disdain for cyclists. They like to heckle, and tailgate etc. around cyclists. |
After several days of cool, crisp fall weather we are back to heat and humidity, and the high is supposed to be close to 90 F this afternoon. I didn't realize how much the weather had changed and overdressed this morning, so I was quite sweaty when I got to work. Rode my fastest and lightest commuter bike, so I kept a fast pace despite catching every red light. The cold showers at work felt just as shocking as usual but at least stopped the sweating.
|
Warmest morning this week, or so it felt, at least... And humid street last night's showers. Few joggers* on the MUP this morning, which made the commute easier. The sun coming up over the Potomac was a warm brilliant reddish orange. I really need to leave a few extra minutes in the morning so I can actually stop and take pictures of stuff every once in a while.
More rain expected during the day today. Looking forward to what seems like a rare forecast tailwind this afternoon for the ride to grad school courses. |
Light rain this morning, but otherwise a nice ride in. Hopefully I can avoid the thunderstorms on the way home.

Colder than it has been in a long while, fall is definitely in the air. I was up early, so I decided to take a longer route in this morning (8.67 miles instead of the usual 4.3). I really noticed how much cooler it was on the MUP, compared to when I got back onto the roads for the last couple miles.
Not a great pace, but I try not to push too much on the way in, I save that for the longer ride home. :) Should be about perfect today, right around 70F, with clear skies and almost no wind. |

The ride itself was uneventful and enjoyable.
However, the pre-ride morning routine has progressively become more hectic. I feel more and more rushed to get out the door every morning. |
Fantastic late morning ride to class, perfect temperature for shorts and jersey. I love the sound of dry leaves crackling under tire. I took a direct route in for a break after my previous two extended commutes. All this week there has been a dusty haze in the air. A combination of dry gravel roads outside the city and fall harvesting.
I took a 39km route home yesterday afternoon. The 7km stretch going north is great since there are no buildings and little traffic, it is dead silent. Despite the lateness of the year I probably shouldn't go on two hour rides in the afternoon without sunscreen. I got a little red from the two long rides this week. On the way home I followed the part of the MUP under construction to see where it went. They should be ready to pave it in just a few weeks. |
I had a quick ride in this am as the weather people said the rain was here and it was not yet outside my house, so I rode quickly to work. The rain did not start until I was about three miles away from work. So all in all a good ride in. I also left earlier than usual so it was even quieter than I am used to and darker. Heavy rain is predicted for the ride home, but I have options that do not include riding so I will see what the day brings.
|
The warmth continues...overnight storms left wet roads. I left about 20 minutes earlier than I have been and the lack of cars was noticeable. A sweet ride in...and yet another new bike commutter was in the work locker room this a.m.
|
Warm and cloudy at 67f (19c), and I missed the rain again. It looks just to be a cloudy afternoon, so I should be getting home in nice weather.
Even my later fridays are now in the dark. 6 more months to get back to the light in the morning. |
