The commute was very wet and windy here in the NW. At least it was a high of 50 in temp. That will change starting in Dec. when we will see temps at a high of 28. I wish I was a snow bird right now.

The ride in last night was wet, flooded streets, traffic snarled to a grid lock at most intersections, and a little windy. Fantastic ride in and looking forward to the ride out.

Winds died down from yesterday, more late Fall commuting joy. Lots of runners using the dedicated bike lanes in the morning. I am generally ok with it but I doo not like passing a guy running with traffic, wearing headphones.

This is the PERFECT time of year to commute in the desert - early mornings in the 40s, crisp and windless, and the afternoon ride home in the 70s. Life simply feels renewed by the morning ride.

We are having our Thanksgiving feast at work today, and I rode my touring bike so I would have room to carry my contribution to the food. I make pecan pie tarts every year, and people depend on my to bring them and have been reminding me. So I made a batch last night, which pretty well filled up my trunk bag this morning. Didn't have to worry about carrying lunch, however, since there will be so much food at work. My touring bike is heavier and slower than my other bikes but rides very nice with 32 mm tires and a Brooks B17 saddle. My morning commute took about 5 minutes longer than usual but I enjoyed the cushy ride. I'm off work the rest of the week, so no more commuting until next week.

The nice weather this week made it too irresistible to not keep cycle commuting, so the 2012 season continues for me on a day to day basis.

Not sure how this thread works exactly, but I road from W and 15th st NE to the library in Indian Head, MD. Today is incredibly warm with a mean head wind. I hope the wind does not change direction as it gets dark. 2 nights ago I had to call it quits riding from Fredricksburg back to DC on hwy 210. I set my tent up along the highway and made a small fire. (I always carry my tent and sleeping bag- ya never know).

The weather's gone berserk! The daytime temperature hasn't fallen below 20C (68F) during the whole of November, and even today when the skies darkened and I was cycling to work in a torrential downpour, I was soaked in sweat from the humidity and rain-gear. On the way back, the sun came out and the temperature rose to around 22-23C (70-74F) making cycling with anything more than a t-shirt uncomfortable.

Even for Athens, these high temps are unnatural during Autumn, and I find myself longing for winter temps and less sweat!

+5C, too darn warm! I took the Pugsley since there wasn't any ice, though I will probably have to keep my eyes peeled tonight. I raised the pressure to 7 front / 11 rear which sped me up quite a bit, but sacrificing some floatation / traction in the few soft spots.. The packed snow has softened up enough that people with normal sized tires are sinking into it. That's one of the things I dislike most about warm weather during the winter.

I think of it as a blog for people not narcissistic enough to have an entire website dedicated to themselves.

Nice and cool. Gentle breeze, 50 degrees or so.

+1 -- And a nice read for commuters. I like reading other people's daily experiences, because it makes me feel like a part of something. We're doing something that is a bit unusual in a world view, but this thread makes me think I'm normal

Rode through a spectacular thunderstorm on the way home today. Surprisingly awesome.

I'm posting now for my ride yesterday morning. Seeing how it's actually Wednesday now.

The weather here was great so I decided to get out and ride a good long ride. Not a commute, rather a commute around town here.

Decided to ride some hills today and did a total ascent of 2275 in climbing on the ride. Took just a little over 3 hours but had a great time. I think I'm going to try the same ride again on my geared CX bike next time. Really tired.

++1 even though I don't really know the people on this thread they're my accountability community. I find I'm often thinking about what I'll write as I'm riding!

Mild this morning, 3C, and with a forecasted 9C this afternoon, I'm glad I went light on the gear. Tomorrow, it is forecast to go from a low of 6C to a high of 12C, Friday mild too but fortunately, I don't work on Saturday because the high is forecasted to be -2C and a low of -8C. Monday looks reasonable though.

Was running late this morning so I took the short route in (4km) but with high school basketball to coach this afternoon, I'll be taking a longer route home than normal, plus getting home at about 9pm. Last Wednesday, one of the boys looked at me, all dressed up to ride home, and said, "Are you riding home? Wow, that's legit!"

As for me today, it was chilly and I took an odd and inefficient route in due ti some traffic and construction.

What state is Fredricksburg in?

32F/0C. Not much happened. Got passed by a city bus being followed by many cars. That was unusual. Once they cleared out there wasn't much traffic at all.

Got to work and a coworker was walking in and held the door wide open and said, "Ride right in!" I was too timid. Not much room for the handlebars as it is.

I couldn't do that, we have those rotating doors, my bike and I'd get royally messed up.

32F this morning and pea soup fog. Ran with all lights on, and a safety vest. Glasses fogged, mirror fogged and even the backs of my gloves had condensation on them.

As I mentioned in previous post I destroyed the battery pack for my DIY lights. I got the new battery, an XP18000, on Monday and have rode with it for two days. Looks like I could run all the lights for about 4 hours , and it weighs only about a pound!

For the record my lights are 2x6W LEDs, a 2W LED, and 2x Whelen TIR 3's (emergency vehicle flashers)

-3C with a 15kph headwind, tomorrow is supposed to get colder again. My legs were stiff and sore for the whole ride in, which I haven't experienced for quite some time now.

The streets started glazing over during the ride home last nice. I slid around a bit, but nothing requiring drastic corrections. This morning there was a lot of ice so I took the mtb. The slush on the MUP had frozen trapping yesterday's bicycle tire ruts. I had to be careful to keep my tire from falling into them when crossing the unplowed sections. Freezing rain warning, so it could be very slick for the ride home.

Today my mountain bike became the 3rd of my bikes to pass 2,000km for the year. Hooray for arbitrary unit of measure specific milestones!
