Bad commute today, I got hit by car. I am ok but the bike got scuffed up a bit (namely the new 105 pedals I just put on last night).

Dam, sorry about that. Glad you okay and here posting about it. Was it a situation where the car DIDN'T SEE YOU, or something else?

Again, glad you okay, because the odds are against us when we come in contact with 3000+ lbs of moving steel!!

~60 degrees this am, Long sleeve jersey doesn't really do anything. It was an okay ride, a little later than I like getting to work, so my shower/cool down period was a bit rushed.

I had a super commute as always! Lately I have been making my commute LONGER by choice. I only have about 10 miles each way. But, I stretch the first 10 miles to 25, and they be in the dark too. This morning I was riding my 88 Centurion Ironman Expert. Not shown in the picture, I had it decked out with these two flashlights up front. Oh boy. ..they made the dark morning, look like sunshine... Also, I had this on my helmet... These items makes my commute in the pitch dark, big fun!!

I think it was a case of they didn't see me. It was at an intersection and they were accelerating from a stop so I got pretty lucky.

Bikes: Nothing amazing... cheap old 21 speed mtb

Bit windy but perfect temperature. Taking it easy on the way to work I didn't sweat at all. Could have worn my work clothes and they would be have been good to go.

For a change, wind direction was different, but the wind wasn't very strong. The tube I patched this morning worked fine. It has four rema patches on it and still going strong. I wonder how many I can get on it. Commute was fine except for one encounter. At an intersection as the light turned green, I proceeded to go straight, and some lady makes her left turn approaching me, but I moved out of the way. By law, I clearly had the right-of-way. In my experience, black women are the worse drivers out here. I didn't look to see if she was on some phone. Some months ago, I had one in two lanes to my left tell me that I'm allowed to run red lights, because she thought that I'm considered a pedestrian on my bike.

heidenseek, I am glad that you are ok. Getting hit in any manner is frightening experience.

Nice ride in, drizzle, but nothing heavy. The sky was very dark, and something is coming this way, but it is good to get in ahead of it. This morning as in other mornings, sometimes I come off bridge over a highway, make a right into what is an industrial area, and in the dark as one of the large warehouses has been abandoned, as I get down the road I smell cigarette smoke in the same place. It's too dark to see anything, and I like to account for everyone around me in the dark.

First morning I kinda worked up a sweat for a long time, I think it is 60F but it is kinda humid. Back to normal ride time, did not go through a time warp this morning.

I took the car this am, so not a good ride in. I did ride a ten mile ride before I went to work this am, just to get the fresh air and wide awake feeling that riding gives me.

My first heavy rain since I started 6 weeks ago. 54°. I think I was wetter inside (sweat) my jacket and pants then outside. Even after sunrise it was dark. I was glad I had two rear flashers and a front flashing white light.
Haven't gotten a rain cover for my Topeak trunk bag yet but found tall kitchen trash bags fit just fine. Then found these Task Force 8-Pack 12" Canopy Tarp Ties at Lowes. Perfect size to stretch round the base of the trunk bag.

Bikes: I have five of brikes

25 mph headwind directly at my 12 o'clock, gusting to 35 mph.

i love riding along chicago's lakefront, but i also hate riding along chicago's lakefront.

i guess the optimist in me can say "at least it was one hell of an epic workout battling that wind for 15 miles"

Beautiful ride this morning. It started to drizzle as I pulled out of the drive, but it never got any harder, so I kept riding. It stopped after about 10 minutes. Almost no cars today through the first 2/3 of the ride, which made it really nice.

Nice ride in this am, temps are perfect.

Last night I enjoyed a slight detour on the way home to enjoy the newly opened multi-use bridge over CSX tracks on the Annacostia river near my home. I've been watching this thing go up for more than a year.

45F misty/rainy. I am back in the swing of what passes for spring around here for sure though, shorts, fingerless gloves, t-shirt under raincoat.

4/25/2012 - First one way commute of the year. I've been trying to get some miles in to build up to it but I suck so I just brought my bike to work and rode home. 17 miles. That's far for me right now. I left my vehicle at work so I had to ride back in the next day.

4/25/2012 - It's the next day. I adjusted my route and got it down to 15.16 miles. I think I can shave off a bit more but not much. I was very tired from yesterday so this was a struggle but I'm glad I did it. I'm going to keep doing one way's until I'm in better shape then do a both way a few times a week.

Jealous of that!
That said a trail has been slowly being built in my area. Not even started yet near my home. 2 Years ago I was excited as it would have been a great way for me to get to work. Mid 2010 they decided to move my office CLOSER so I wont have a need to ride but 1/4 mile of the next section that gets finished and its not sure its a better way to work then the way I go now.. Its suppose to go behind my neighborhood eventually but some property in that section that may have some issues. They are running it on a sewer easement but its really going to encroach on some private property and I'm sure there will be a fight since a couple of those owners have treated the easement as their property to the point of landscaping it and installing fences. I dont expect any progress till 2014 at the earliest.

Back to the ride. We had a cold snap starting Sunday and it was EXTREMELY windy Monday Tuesday so I wussed out and drove. Last 2 days however have been very nice and tomorrow is suppose to be more of the same.

Fastest ride home every, and I was on my slow bike and it was loaded. Did I mention I had a big wind again, I could get used to this, but alas, it wont last.

Had a great ride in the morning, but it was pouring cats and dogs for the ride home. Not too bad, but I hate having to dry the bike off when I get home. Bike is running great though

A nice ride and later in, so light. The temps are around 48f (9C), but the wind makes it a bit cooler. It is nice to come in with the sun shinning. I am thinking about making fridays may later day any way, so this is a good reason.

The ride in this morning featured big winds and warm temps. When you have to push yourself to get down a hill cause the wind is pushing you the other way, is just not right!

Bikes: Nothing amazing... cheap old 21 speed mtb

Found a new commutable day. Only 10km out, the streets are so busy a bike is faster than a motorcycle anyway for my smaller shifts between the 3 different kindergartens. Very happy. 20km more exercise for only 10 minutes more travel time... and that was on my old heavy utility bike. I also discovered a whole new riverside cycling trail and about 5 bike shops. Saves times on putting on the motorcycle armor as well.
