I like that site! You beat me to posting a link.
The thing that I notice is the competition for the brightest/most headlights. I am blinded by the spotlights some people use. One commuter I meet at the same time every Monday going the other way has one on the bars and one on each fork blade. What's up with that?

My guess is that they don't want to get mowed down by a driver who is texting, talking on their phone, or futzing with their iPod.

I ride like a maniac even if I can't muster anymore steam. There is something fun about going fast on a bike weaving between cars etc. if I pass fellow commuters I take the lane give space

No matter what time of day, what task is at hand, or what our destination may be, just remember, safety should always come first! The life you save, just may be your own...

Riding like a bat outta hell implies that you're not being too mindful of others, and most probably not too concerned about unexpected, but necessary braking.

- Slim

PS.

Don't react!..Just sit back. Give a thought. Recollect, all of your past close-calls. Center yourself and make the mental transition to a more peaceful and thoughtful place within your mind.

Exactly! I commute because I don't want to ride the trainer at home. My 17 mile "commute" with a buddy:

making newbies and most especially retro-grouches gasp as i pass them in a traffic lane is fun.
on the rare occasion (almost never) that i am forced to ride in a mup or bike lane i slow way down.
newbies are very unpredictable and often move right into your line.
