Pannier Review

I used these panniers last year for my commute, I am eyeballing these for this years commute : Seattle Sports Titan Pannier Bike Bag.

I have no complaints with the NB panniers, I normally only take 1, unless I have lots of junk to take to work. However they are only water resistant, and I'm hoping for something more water proof. I like that they are easy to put on and take off my Topeak Explorer rack.

Anybody own/used the Titan Pannier?

Any useful feedback? ( Specifically on durability, mounting system and size for daily commute )

Or are there other panniers that can be recommend?

I think there is a rule in pannier advertising that you should never show a picture or description of the mounting system.

I didn't see where the Titan claims to be waterproof. Another $10 at Amazon will get you the Rain Rider.

Another option to consider is Banjo Brothers. While I have no experience with the panniers, I do have a backpack that offers similar construction- nylon outer shell with removeable/replaceable liner.

Yes I've noticed this.

Bikes: It's the motor, not the bike, right?

The Nashbar panniers have served me well. Some waterproofing spray makes them essentially waterproof. I haven't found the need for anything else.

Me too. Using a garbage can bag makes them as waterproof as I'd like them to be.

Ortlieb (cough) seems to always violate that rule.

I have these bags. I've only had them out in a light rain and they worked well. As for mounting, the clips are decent, but I've broken three of them. Seattle Sports customer service has been great about sending me replacements. They definately get my thumbs up for supporting their product. I use these bags regularly (~2500 miles/yr) with moderate weight (5-10 lbs/bag). I have two panniers and the bag that goes on top of the rack. All around, it's a decent set of bags.
