Looking for a substantial commuter rack bag
I have been hunting around here for some information and elsewhere on these webtubes, but I have not really found anything that is helpful, so at the risk of starting the n'000th thread on the same subject - here goes!
I use an Arkel Tailrider on my rear rack and a Brooks Glenbrook saddle bag hanging from the saddle, been using this system for nearly three years. The Tailrider holds shower and first-aid gear on one side and gloves on the other. There is just enough room inside for a mini u-lock, a medium towel, office clothes, no jacket though, and lunch in a bag. The saddle bag contains wet-weather gear, tools, cable lock, sunglasses and a few other things floating around inside. There is also room for a bag containing wallet, keys, iPhone, a small camera and my office badges and stuff. I keep shoes at the office.
The Tailrider comes with a plastic cover for the rain, but that is pretty much at end of life. And the Glenbrook attachments to the saddle are beginning to come adrift on the bag itself. I have also been rather annoyed by the way it bounces around on the back there.
I would like to have ONE bag that will mount to the rack and that holds everything. It needs to mount with velcro straps like the Tailrider. I'd like it to have enough room for a jacket if I need one, but that is not essential. It should have side pockets to hold shower gear and tools etc., and it needs to be waterproof - either directly or with some sort of cover like the Tailrider.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks - Lawrence
