8 days in a row...so far

I know for some of you long-time bike commuters it doesn't sound like much, but I just realized that I have cycled to work the last 8 days in a row. It's only 8 miles each way, and the weather here in south Florida has been really nice (if a bit windy in the evenings) and it's made it easy to swing my leg over the bike each morning and head in.

Thanks for the group for keeping me committed to the idea of cycling to work!!!

That's awesome, keep it up! I didn't commute regularly for a few years and just started up again this spring. Lo and behold, I just realized I'm going on 5 weeks straight, at about 6 miles each way. You'll be there before you know it.

Good job, and keep it up. Before you know it 8 days will be 8 months.

Nice! Grats. I ride when I can but with 2 kids and having to meet those obligations too it is hard sometimes. So far this month I have ridden 10 times either to and/or from work, sometimes wifey gives me a ride to work.

Feels good don't it?

That's great!

This is my first year of commuting, and I don't think I've ever hit 8 days in a row. My commute is short, and I can hop on a bus and get there in the same amount of time, so I'm strictly a fair-weather commuter...

I have tremendous respect for those who commute long distances, rain or shine, but I just do it for fun and a little exercise.

Congrats, Tom! I appreciate what 8 days in a row means. The legs can get tired easily.

Bikes: Nothing amazing... cheap old 21 speed mtb

I try and commute when I can. Some days its impossible with the time table I need to keep between appointments. But I do a training ride every morning at 5am as long as there isn't a serious rainstorm in progress. At present out of the last 70 days I've ridden at least 35km for 68 of those. Whats a day without a ride in there somewhere?

So, my streak ends at 8 days....I got in the pickup today and drove into work as I need to stop at the barber this afternoon and get a haircut, and it a difficult spot to get to on my bike. Additionally, there is a 50% or higher chance of thunderstorms for the next four days, and I kind of draw the line at riding while the lightening is flying... Call me a wuss, I have a healthy respect for mega-doses of electricity, static or otherwise.

Yeah, I don't mess with lightning either. That stuff'll kill you.
