No it isn't. It is something I've actually observed, more than once. You have an ideal that you are trying to push on other people, oftentimes irrespective of their actual needs or wants. It is overbearing.

You TEND to harp on things to make some "point". Again, this is overbearing and not the point of this forum.

I am not intending to derail this thread, nor do I ever intend to be insulting or seen as mean-spirited or "trolling", but at times I feel the need to call out some of the things you post because I think they are a net negative to the newbies that are coming here for advice. The fact that I am not the only one that feels this way maybe should say something to you. Please don't take this as me "picking on you" or anything of that sort, I'm not mad at you. Maybe you could just simmer-down some?

They also give a smoother ride with less vibration on paved surfaces.

Even if I don't get to work in substantially less time, that extra couple MPH makes it more fun to use a road bike.

There is that.

I feel the same way. Same reason I used to drive a little sports car to work. I liked the way it handled and the quick acceleration. It didn't get me to work any faster.

Others may prefer a bike that they can take down a flight of stairs or peel off into the woods. Then there are those who want to be able to haul everything, including the kitchen sink, on their commute bike. The right bike is the one that works best for you.

Want what you have. Don't want what you don,t have. I ride a 2003 Specialized Rockhopper with 1.5 slicks. Yes, the roadies pass me; however, who is getting the better workout?

I'm betting it's the roadies. Roadies tend to ride as fast as they possibly can all the time. You probably don't.
