Recovering from an Illness

So a few weeks ago I came down with a nasty chest infection. I actually got hives due to the infection. It finally went away and the hives seem to be at bay as well, 48 hours with no flare up. I have been off the bike since I got sick and was contemplating hitting the pavement again but wasn't sure if I was pushing it or not. I certainly don't want a recurrence but I also want to start riding. My wife convinced me to wait another week and I most likely am but I wanted to see what you all thought. How long do you wait after getting really sick before jumping back on the bike?

I never talked to him directly about commuting to work. He just said "Take it easy". Leaves a lot of liability wiggle room I think.

Oh, I planned on it. I was just curious what others use as a benchmark for when they felt ready to ride after being sick, i.e. the flu, a cold, etc.

When I feel better I head out. I'm very cautious about chest infections, flu, etc.
