I am definitely NOT telling my wife about this one. This is what she imagines will happen to me every time I commute or take a long ride on roads in general. Too bad it does happen though. Sending positive thoughts his way...

jsharr 05-17-12 08:40 AM

Still praying. Going to look at our budget and speak to wife about Chipin. Made this thread a sticky.

I feel the same way. My wife doesn't need to know about this one. I'm keeping quiet about it at work, too. I'm not sure how well I'd react to the first person to say I could be next.

That doesn't mean I can stop thinking about it, though. Mike, you're in my thoughts and prayers, buddy.

chipcom 05-17-12 08:45 AM

Thoughts and prayers for Michael.

YOU BASTARD! to Murphy.

MangoPumpkin 05-17-12 08:47 AM

Thanks tate65!

He and his are in my prayers. I really hate hearing stories like this. Horrible situation.

What an awful incident.

My thoughts out to him and his family. I hope he recovers soon.

puckett129 05-17-12 09:15 AM

Get better, Mike!

The ChipIn site takes Pay Pal!

I had the same thought. Here's to a speedy recovery.

AdamDZ 05-17-12 10:08 AM

Yeah. Not telling my wife either for the same reason. I chipped in and put a post on my blog. Hopefully, we can help out a bit.

Jamesw2 05-17-12 10:17 AM

Tell the doctors the had better take care of him . . . I mean really good care . . . I don't want to need to call Guido

Pamestique 05-17-12 10:55 AM

I am praying for Mach/Mike and his family. Horrible news. It hurts the entire cycling community to know another cyclist is down and in so tragic a way. I wish I could say, I feel his pain, but I have no idea...

dcrowell 05-17-12 11:00 AM

There are no words... :(

I hope he recovers well enough to get back on a bike later this year.

no motor? 05-17-12 12:34 PM

Wow, this sucks. I was thinking during the Ride of Silence last night I don't know anyone personally who's been hit by a car while riding, and this is much too close for me. Sending best wishes for a speedy and full recovery.

alexaschwanden 05-17-12 01:24 PM

Wow, I am glad he survived that, he is in my prayers, heal fast.

pgoat 05-17-12 06:40 PM

Sending all positive thoughts his way for good news from the MRI followed by a speedy recovery.

kookaburra1701 05-17-12 07:31 PM

Keeping him in my thoughts! Anyone who visits him, let him know that even lurker newbs on the forum have already missed his presence.

jril 05-17-12 08:01 PM

I'm glad to hear it sounds like he wasn't paralyzed. Still, it will be a long road to recovery. Hopefully he can get back to riding eventually. Anything else we can do for him & his family?

I was thinking after I heard about his accident, but before I heard it had happened in Garland, my gut feeling was that Garland and Irving are two of the most dangerous cities in the Dallas metro in terms of drivers driving crazy, aggressively, and not paying attention.

Jeff Wills 05-17-12 08:12 PM

Horrible news, but it sounds like the immediate prognosis is reasonably good.

FWIW: a bike-club friend of mine was hit several years ago and spent a month in a coma, then nearly a year in inpatient recovery. He's alive and functional, but can no longer ride a bike (no balance). He helped out at the club's big ride two weeks ago. He's doing pretty well, considering.

Looks like a local TV news channel did a story tonight
