Creme Cafe Racer

After lusting after this bike on the internet for a few months I finally decided to purchase it. I scoured the internet for reviews and found very little, so I'm hoping that if someone else is interested in this bike they will see this thread. I ordered my bike from Chain Reaction Cycles and had it delivered to my LBS. The delivery took 4 days (all the way from the UK!) and my bike store was very impressed with the bike. I purchase a bike rack from another bike store (I wanted silver and the original bike store didn't have a silver one in stock) and the second bike store was also impressed with the quality of the bike. I haven't ridden a bike since high school so I have nothing to compare it to but I felt very safe and sturdy on my bike. I took her for a 10 mile ride and she did great. The handling is very nice and I think she will be perfect for my leisurely rides and my 3 mile one way commutes beginning in August.

This is the link for my particular bike: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=69703

I bought the 49 cm size.

I'm new to the bike forum, but I've been reading non-stop for the past few months. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like better/ more detailed pictures!

Welcome and nice looking bike!

Nice! This looks similar to my Wife's Electra Ticino 8D, I was wondering where Electra got the idea, I guess now I know, haha

Previously 'Cafe Racer' was a motorcycle configuration ..

Excellent! Mixtes in a classic style like that always look great.

Very stylish! How are the lights? They look pretty cool on there, but do you find them to be bright enough? They're powered by a dynamo hub, right?

Yes! I got the dynamo version and I love them. The front light is very bright and the rear light is visible even in daylight. I'm glad I chose this option because I think I would find changing batteries kind of annoying.

Beautiful bike and very good / intelligent set up too. This bike should serve you well and be a pleasure to ride for many years.

Excellent choice!

Oh, it knows how to pose for pictures too! ;) Congrats on a new bike! Have fun!

That sure is purty. I really like the hammered fenders. That front rack is great. And you've even got a discrete and functional chain guard. You chose wisely.

AdamDZ 05-17-12 01:43 PM

A friend of mine had those fenders. They do look neat, although not my style, but they do look particularly nice on a light colored bike IMHO. His was a light green.

As my 8 year old daughter would say, "Fance-a" Pronounced Fancy but with an "a" sound at the end instead of a "y" sound

Grats!

mixtemiss 05-17-12 06:45 PM

Thank you every one! I can't wait to get many years of enjoyment and use out this bike, and I'm beginning to think that this will be the first of many bikes to come.

I just got a Brooks b17 for my bike. That saddle is comfy as all get out.

cyclokitty 05-17-12 10:48 PM

That looks like a great bike. I hope you have lots of fun rides on it.

pkulak 05-18-12 12:44 AM

Once you go dynamo you never go back to battery. Congrats!

Not my cup of tea but an extremely fine looking piece of craftsmanship..... er bike. Looks great in that blue. Don't leave that locked up anywhere; it will attract a lot of attention.

SHOFINE 05-18-12 05:27 AM

My wife has a pale purple Electra Amsterdam 3i that I thought was the prettiest ladies bike.....I better not show her this. Love them fenders!

The Electra Amsterdam was on my short list when I was choosing a bike. It's definitely a gorgeous one.

Quite likely indeed :) Happened to a lot of us.

Just wanted to add a couple more pictures. I ordered a skirt guard on Etsy before I even ordered this bike because I thought it would look beautiful and I plan on biking in skirts and dresses as often as I bike in shorts or pants. I love it, and I think it gives my bike a little character.
