Bike to Work Day Loot

Thought I'd share the loot I got on Bike to Work Day.

This is the haul from 9 pit-stops across 15miles of Los Angeles. There was also plenty of fruit but I ate that before I got to work.

Not pictured, coupon for 10% off bike & 20% off accessories and clothing.

Anyone else get anything fun this week for biking to work?

I haven't seen anything in NYC. But I wasn't really looking for anything, so might have missed.

Bikes: 2006 Specialized Ruby Pro aka "Rhubarb" / and a backup road bike

Our local bike-to-work day is Friday May 18.
There will be free coffee and, um, "power rings" downtown along with a presentation by the city police bike patrol.

My small bike club has a May Commuter Challenge with a sponsor funding a prize if 3+ people participate.
The participants vote on a winner (other than themself), the sponsor votes in case of a tie.
The winner gets to pick a prize, can range from bikey stuff to the first round of adult beverages on a social ride.

Hey, what pit stop did you get the Xrds bag at? Was there one at Crossroads? I know that Santa Monica Spoke had one at the co-op...my problem is that all of the pit stops in Santa Monica were in the opposite direction of where I need to go!

Yes, the national bike to work day is tomorrow. In Southern California cities had pit stops set up today. There were 17 pit stops in Santa Monica alone!

Nothing. Our work gives out some schwag at the end of the month, though. At least they did last year. I got a New Belgium Brewing Co. t-shirt, a waterbottle to a local bike shop, and two free movie tickets. I don't drink, but the tshirt is soooo comfortable that I wear it all the time. And I never used the movie tickets. And my waterbottles are no longer the same ones. It always seems like I run across someone who needs the water more than me so I give them away, but new ones keep coming back to me somehow.

Nothing in Tahoe! I definitely am a huge fan of the National Bike to Work Month and Bike to Work Day. I just wish the communities had the same passion as i do advocating bike commuting.

Yeah. I got it crossroads. They had a stop on 20th. The guy at Helen's told me to stop by there. I had to leave home an extra hour early to fit all the stops in.

Bike To Work day is today (Friday) here in Pittsburgh. There were 14 stops set up all over the city, here's my loot from the SouthSide REI.

There was a nice breakfast spread, with bagels and cream cheese, donuts, fruit, coffee and juice, plus an REI bike tech to chat with about bike gear.

a rear blinkie, a pin, a sticker, a colored band for your pants, a danish and a t-shirt. Pretty good. Last year I got a water bottle and tire irons, so it's nice they seem to mix it up. Never can have enough water bottles though.

Chicago has to be different by doing its official bike to work event in June. Regardless, my commute never takes me by any of the locations where swag is being handed out.

Local group was giving out water and power bars, but since I ride every day regardless I figured I'd leave it for any new converts they might be able to entice.

Absolutely nothing and no other bicycle commuters in sight. But I live in Saginaw, MI so it's not a shock. :\

Nice haul!

I for one commend everyone who managed to scrounge as much free grub as possible. It's a valuable life skill!

If they did anything like that here you can bet I'd be hitting all the spots even if I didn't have to work that day.
