The panniers aren't a big deal right now. I was just thinking that if I prepared for them now then I don't have to buy another rack in the future if I decide I want/need them. I don't currently envision panniers in my future but a month ago I never thought a rack was in my future either so....

I was unable to find the geo info I was looking for, so...

I'd just get the more basic rack that didn't have the lower rail at this point- unless you anticipate moving it over onto another bike in the future. Then it's a coin toss.

Another option that I'm hesitant to mention, because I think that using one might be problematic if you have to transport your bike on a car (or in a car) would be get a Donkeyboxx and just put your cooler in it. They send you a little widget that helps you figure out the proper position to avoid heel strike. Don't know if you'd roll like that, but there it is.

LOL, nah. I throw my bike on the back of my wife's car nearly everyday. I usually depart her at a park near the freeway she would take to get to work or at our daughter's school when school is in session. I'll go with the Topeak with no lower rack and just go with it. If I do end up needing panniers in the future I'll just have to deal with it or figure out a solution.

Thanks again for all the help.
