I'm not generally a proponent of the death penalty, but I wouldn't mind seeing a psycho like this removed from society permanently.

The other day I gad a guy pass me with a few inches to spare and lean on his super amplified horn when he drew even with me. My first inclination was to flip him the bird, but on quick reflection decided he might be crazy and or armed so decided to just ignore it and keep riding. Fortunately, we get very little of that.

Too bad they could only charge him with a misdemeanor with all that going on. He'll probably do a weekend of picking up trash at the roadside and pay a hundred dollar fine. Then he'll get back in his van and throw twice as much trash out the window and continue to harass cyclists.

I did get yelled at once, but it was my first time trying a new route I really hadn't scoped out properly in advance, and I absolutely deserved the ire I got, as I'd wandered onto a street without enough room and had to just stick it out in the right lane, slowing traffic, until I could turn and regroup.

No, you did not deserve anyone's ire for simply traveling on a public roadway in a safe manner. Don't subordinate yourself to the car-centric mentality that says "a motorist is owed an apology if any non-motorist gets in the way".
I enjoy my right to travel completely devoid of guilt!
Ride On.
