I leave at 5:00 in the morning for a 9 mile bike ride to where I catch a bus. I know, that sounds like what somebody else already said.... There is very little traffic on my morning ride. I do have trouble getting to bed early enough at night to let me get enough sleep.

I stumble out of bed at 0515, quick shower, ride my 4 miles to the bus stop, throw the bike on the front of the bus, climb aboard then doze as the bus rumbles the 20 miles on the interstate to downtown Kansas City. Perfect.

0530 for me. Sparse petroholics and some peds out for morning walk/run. It is amazing how different everything is in the dark with bike lights or illuminated by street lights. I confess to missing a turn a few times. If you are superstitious, then riding in the dark could be unnerving. I have seen ghosts that turned out to be something else or just a trick of light and atmosphere. What is REALLY scary are folks out for a jog dressed like a cat burglar and cyclists with no lights or reflectors, also clad in dark clothes.
