Brrrrr ... cold showers!
They are doing "annual maintenance" on the boilers for our building, so we will have no heat or hot water for the next two weeks. The heat is probably no big deal because the temperatures are generally mild in NC this time of year. The cold water is another issue. I've had to take cold showers all week when I get to work, and it is an eye opener. Fortunately I learned how to take cold showers at camp, but it's still not any fun. My only other options are to go without showers at work for two weeks, walk across the street to another building in our complex that still has hot water (which would add about 10-15 minutes to my commute time) or just quit riding. I've opted for the cold showers.

I have a wife and at one time or another 3 kids living in the house so I'm not stranger to cold shower. Just be quick about it and its no big deal.

With the exception of during winter, I usually take a cold shower when I get to work to help cool off. Maybe ride harder to work so you really get heated up? Then that cold shower might actually feel good.

I have had to take cold showers at work a couple times when something or other was not turned on. I can attest to the not fun. I guess given your options I would add the time in to walk across the way to where there is heated water. Though today is Wednesday so it is almost over.

cold showers shud help you cool down after the ride. I use coldish water at the gym after my lunchtime run cuz I have tor rush back to my office and don't want to be read faced or sweating.
would you consider showering at home before commuting or the night before so that the shower at work has less responsibility?

Let me clarify. they were always getting ahead of me with the showers or baths. I had one daughter that would see if she could drain the hot water tank, so naturally I ended up with the cold water. That's what I meant

To avoid wasting water, I let the water warm up as I shower. This means that I am normally done by the time I get a hint of a warm up. As the OP said, cold water temps are not that bad right now (I measured 76 deg. F at the tap) so it's not hard to take. In Jan when it gets down to about 60 it gets to be a challenge.

So far the cold water hasn't been as bad as I was anticipating. However, the morning lows are supposed to drop into the mid-50s for the next few days, and some hot water would really feel nice. I'll just have to gut it out. Looks like we'll have no hot water until about Oct. 1.

I'll never forget the shower at a youth hostel in Orleans, France. It was outdoors! They had outdoor Turkish toilets, too. But I was happy to be there anyway.
