stealth shoes

I am looking for shoes i can bike to work in, and keep on all day at work, that are sneaker like but are all black (including soles) and that look more like shoes than sneakers. So I am looking for leather or suede or maybe a synthetic material that is like canvas but dressier looking. On the Chrome website they sell some nice shoes/sneakers but they dont have one that is all black that can pass for shoes-- the ones they have that are black on top do not have black soles.

To rephrase what i want, if there was a Puma Clyde in all black leather with black sole that would work. THere actually is a Puma Clyde in black leather but it does not have a black sole.

I cant get away with a white or tan sole, with black sneakers at work. It stands out too much.

On the other hand i dont want the kind of black shoes that security guards wear since they arent as comfortable or lightweight as sneakers, not by a long shot. I currently have a pair of black security guard type shoes made by Dickies. They are ok for walking and working in but not ok for extended bike rides in my opinion. I dont want to have to carry shoes with me to work. And i dont want to have to change into shoes at work. I would rather be stealth and have black sneaker looking shoes that are dual purpose.

For some reason almost all the sneakers with black leather tops i find do not have black soles. Anyone found anything good?

These have recesses for SPD cleats, but you wouldn't have to install cleats on them if you didn't want to go clipless.

Do you work sitting down? my legs and feet are in bad shape by day's end
in cycle adapted shoes, standing, walking, working on concrete floors..

so I wear, like, New Balance USPS mail route walker's shoes, they are black..
I have, on the bike, Ergon, big platform pedals.

the combination is fine for my commuting..

Maybe some leather Chuck Taylors?

Thanks for the info. Those leather Chuck Taylors look great, i will probably get those. I dont think I will be happy with the flat interior of the shoe (if they are like Converse models i remember) but i can get an insert form a drug store. There is one CHrome model that is all black but it is canvas and doesnt look dressy enough and also has a big red trademark thing on it too.

The Minna are no good stylewise. Look too much like sneakers, and arent all black. Need something more stealth and black leather shoe-looking. I have a desk job, dont stand at work.

The New Balance USPS shoes look like they would also work for me, but the Converse all black leather chuck Taylor looks better to me style wise and i think is just as covert at least from a distance. The New Balance look ok and i am sure they are real good shoes for walking but they look like they may be a little heavier for biking compared to sneakers, but i am not sure. I think the Chuck Taylor with a good insert from a drug store would be better for me. A long time ago i was a jogger and tried different inserts ie sorbothane, air foam, etc., and those would make the flat type converse more comfortable i think.

There are a bunch of sneakers available in all black. In addition the Chuck Taylor's mentioned above, a small sampling are:

Adidas:

Nike:

New Balance:

K-Swiss:

If you look around, there are a lot more. They exist to sell to waiters and similar people who work on their feet but need to wear something black.

Thank you very much. I have looked in shoe stores in malls, dept stores, some online, bike clothing online places and prior to today never found any all black leather sneakers with black soles. As i said i knew of the security guard type black shoes but thats not what i want. I think i can get away wearing all black leather sneakers at work and nobody will pay any attention. That will mean i can bike commute without carrying shoes or changing shoes when i arrive. I will definitely try it out.

THose DroMarti are really ugly and funny looking and would in no way pass for normal black shoes in an office.

If you need a more full sneaker, with lots of arch support, take a look at the Keen Austin. It's a VERY well made sneaker. It'll last for years of hard use, and has tons of arch support. Large toe box as well.

I've had good luck with Clarks. Not sneakers, but still very comfortable, rubber-soled.

the Dromarti are a cycling shoe following a tradition when all cycle shoes were black
and leather and you used a cleat nailed to the sole .
before you were born probably..
appeal is to a different tradition..

back when Chuck Taylors was on the feet of pro basket ball players..
and the shorts did not look like culottes ..

I agree that the Dromarti would not pass for street shoes, but I love the way they look. Wish I could afford a pair.

The Keen Austin looks great, looks a lot more supportive than the Converse Chuck Taylor. However the Keen is bordering more on being a shoe rather than a sneaker, it looks heavier than the Converse Chuck Taylor or the Adidas model listed above would be.

I am interested in all 3, the Keen might be the best for me but it looks like it will be a little bit more shoe-like and heavy than i would like. When I am biking I want to feel like i am on normal sneakers like my Puma Clydes, not that i am wearing heavier shoes.

They make at least a brown version of this with SPD compatible slots on the bottom.

I have a pair of the DZR Midnight shoes. I love them. Use them for commuting and wear them in the office all day (computer cubicle land).

Best shoe I've worn on or off a bike.
